Isn't the minimum requirement half the regular season or 1 finals game? Doubtful he gets the finals game. And he's like their 5th goalie in terms of games played. He wouldn't get his name on. Unless sitting on the bench qualifies him as a final game played.

Being the backup in the final would count as the one game.

One of your two goalies is going to play less than 41 games in an NHL season and, often, only one goalie plays in the finals. So does the backup goalie get their name on the cup?

The short answer is yes, and here is the criteria for a backup goaltender:

  • Must have dressed as the backup for at least half of the team’s regular season games, which is 41
Or...and I believe this is an or
  • Must have dressed as the backup for one of the games in the Stanley Cup Finals

Draisaitl with a -4.

On ESPN they showed a clip of his lackadaisical play in the D-Zone leading to a VGK goal. That's what happens when you're tired IMO. Played almost 25min tonight.
He’s been defensive shit for a while. He just doesn’t get called out because he scores so often.

Vegas has a higher cap hit for their F's, D's and G's than Edm.

Such a shame the Oilers lost though. A damn shame.

The Kings are a long way from contending. Which is a really crappy place to be with two old players making 8 figures a season. The Kings are about on par with the best DT teams (00-02). They are entertaining and if they play really well they could push someone to 6 or 7 games, but no threat to win 4 series.

The Kings should have traded for Eichel, he was the perfect age where he was good enough now to help in the final 3 years of Kopitar's contract and still has the juice for a few more of his own. Instead we let him go to division rival Vegas, and they are the current favorites to win the cup and will be better than the Kings for the rest of the AK/DD window.

Probably could have gotten him for Byfield and Iafallo.

The big piece in the Eichel trade was Tuch. I’m not sure if we could top that. Tuch was a great young top sixer at the time of the trade.

Maybe Kempe instead of Iafallo?

Either way Vegas is a top team in the league and the Kings are pretenders. Atta boy, Blakey.

So Thompson and Brossoit are done for playoffs? I assume if they get healthy Quick is not dressing

They also work the LTIR to perfection and avoid blowing past the cap. They would be like 14 million over if this was regular season.

Byfield at the time was a pretty valuable asset, more valuable than Alex Tuch. Tuch was coming off a couple of meh years, but has obviously exploded since for the Sabres.

When it works, it's great. When it doesn't, everyone cries about Dwight King being out there so much.
King was playing on the 1st line.. i never understood that - that was Sutter being Sutter stubborn mule that he is. But by putting those bottom 6 guys out there in key moments it builds confidence... something THack will never grasp.
