King was playing on the 1st line.. i never understood that - that was Sutter being Sutter stubborn mule that he is. But by putting those bottom 6 guys out there in key moments it builds confidence... something THack will never grasp.
They had great chemistry.

Sorry, it's all I could find.

Dwight King came from a farm in Saskatchewan - thats why Sutter loved him

That contract is an absolute disaster
he's making about 3x than he's worth. Id like to know the story behind that deal. They also have Campbell at wha 5x5? that a lot quid tied up in some mediocrity long term

I like that reason more than "He went to same college as me" , like Walker with Blake.
same ballpark really.. but there is more charm in that he likes a fellow farm boy... Sutter with his quirks at least had success - ill give him his DK. I predicted accurately that after he left the Kings he'd be out of the league in a year.. and he was after MTL went to KHL

tbf We had basically no decent left wingers. Even Brown would be used on the left wing a lot.

King was MVP of the Phoenix series in 2012.

King-Stoll-Lewis was an absolute menace that year.
Oh yeah - I loved his use then.. that was a great line. It was brilliant to bring him and Nolan up - they had a huge impact on the team's energy and grit.

The Kings should have beaten the Oilers.

Played too f***ing scared and passive.

I knew the Knights wouldn’t make the same mistake. They also have a heavier d-corps.

Hill is a good goalie too.

Oilers feasted on weak competition at the end of the year. LA did too honestly.

I’m happy Vegas won as I thought they should but it pisses me off LA didn’t take the Oilers series.

Kind of hoping Quick gets another cup. Glad Edmonton lost.
I mean, even if Vegas won, while I am sure they will be classy and buy him a ring, he didn't play in enough games and unless he plays in the playoffs he won't have his name on it and I doubt he will feel like he won it.

After seeing the team who rolled them get rolled in the next round, I hope the Kings' front-office revisits their recent stay-the-course back-patting. I still think our prospect pool is promising - provided they are actually developed instead of being displayed in curio cabinets.

Otherwise it smells like this:

He did play in the playoffs, he sat on the bench and watched Edmonton get eliminated. And he’ll probably ride the bench for the conference finals.

Noticed that right away, VGK handled themselves with class in the line, even McDavid was a pissy little bitch and rushed through, no love for anyone, as a team they're so unlikeable

They’re entitled. Their fans are entitled. They have the best player in the world. They have an entire national media apparatus pumping their tires nonstop through two rounds. Their coach whines to the media. Their fans cheer when referees are knocked over.

At some point they all started started telling themselves this fantasy of “it’s just a matter of time until…” And every year that “until” doesn’t come true, it psychologically breaks them.

Petulant, entitled children. This is why they lose. You want to talk about a toxic culture? Look at the Edmonton Oilers. All the textbook insecurities and inferiorities of a lonely alcoholic flyover city distilled into hockey form.

yeah that genuine cheer when o'rourke got clipped and had a bit of trouble getting up was kinda disgusting

i'm all for a quick jeer but they were actually happy about that

Elite? yes, best player in the game? Hell, yes. Generational… still no. Until he gets it done in the play-offs he is a regular season monster but not generational. He could have, should have led that to to the WCF minimum. Yes, I’m talking about McJesus. Winning hockey …. Not scoring hockey. Step one in the PO, no offensive cheating as with his speed if his IQ is good enough he doesn’t need to. I’ve been saying this for years btw…

It's not a narrative. The Kings use their AHL affiliate much more than most teams do, I am shocked you still try and deny it. The most games played in the AHL by teenagers since Blake took over.

Byfield in the AHL, you still think that is something most teams would have done?
Turcotte in the AHL, you still think that is something most teams would have done?

It's obvious Beniers would not have been up with the Kings until he got AHL time. The prospects he are most similar to would be QB and Byfield, who played a combined 150 AHL games. Vilardi has played 75 AHL games, Kaliyev has played 40, Bjornfot has played 95 AHL games. You really think Beniers would be different?

BTW, since Blake took over here is the AHL usage for Top 5 picks

2017

F - Patrick - 0
D - Heiskanen - 0
D - Makar -0

F - Kotkaniemi - 13 (age 19)

F - Dach - 3 (conditioning assignment age 18)
D - Byram 2 (conditioning assigmment age 20)
F - Turcotte 91 (age 19, 20, 21, 22)

2020

F - Lafrenniere - 0
F - Byfield - 59 (age 18, 19, 20)
F - Stutlzle - 0

Ya, the Kings are totally in line with how the rest of the league uses high picks.

So now you are back to arguing that every prospect is the same, and should be handled the same??

Kaliyev has MUCH more NHL games than AHL.....explain that
Vilardi, much more NHL than AHL....explain that

Byfield has 59 games in the AHL...not 150..where in the hell did that number come from? You said QB and Byfield, assuming you meant someone else?

Bjornfot has 95 gamese in the AHL and 116 in the NHL and 50 of those AHL games were this year, they clearly had a plan to play him FIRST in the AHL...right?

So which is it, are all prospects the same and should be treated the same? Or, do they all have different paths and obstacles to face?
