The longer this game goes on, the more it favors Vegas.

Woodcroft is going to drain McDrai.

It's not over till it's over, especially against Edmonton, but I hope Vegas closes it out this final period and eliminate the Oilers on home ice.

I continue to think any nhl team needs a stout, consistent goalie to win. Gotta have a solid backstop. Even in todays "faster, better, new nhl".

All the Vezina candidates are currently golfing.

Remaining Goaltenders Are:

Grubauer
Oettinger
Skinner
Hill
Bob
Anderson

Mostly Randos/Journeymen.

Bob has been great these playoffs. But has been totally mid for years prior. Panthers had so little faith in him he didn't even start these playoffs.

Oettinger has been great in his short career but hasn't been too good these playoffs.

If you think those awards mean anything, why didnt quick win the vezina in '12? Why is the norris constantly awarded to the defenseman who scores the most and has little to do with thier ability as a d man? Why is the selke constantly awarded to a geriatric boston center?

Those awards dont mean shit. The're a joke. And you should quit attempting to quantify and reduce to numbers an emotional team game, played by emotionally driven human beings.
Try the eye test- it works.

Would he though? Take a look at Vilardi,

Drafted in 2017...injuries etc...when he's finally ready,

He plays 4 AHL games, his first year...injuries etc.

2nd year he plays 10 NHL games, and 32 AHL games, injuries etc,

3rd year he plays ZERO AHL games 54 NHL games

4th year, he split AHL and NHL (we all agreed he wasn't playing well)

5th year, all NHL much improved....

Look at Kaliyev - drafted in 2019

1st year 40 AHL games 1 NHL game
2nd year 80 NHL games
3rd year 56 NHL games

Kupari and Byfield might be the 2 that fit that build, with Kupari having 85 AHL games and 130 NHL games, and Byfield 59 AHL games and 99 NHL games...

I know everyone likes to push the narrative that any prospect is going to toil down in the minors and languish there.....but I don't think the numbers support that.....

It's not a narrative. The Kings use their AHL affiliate much more than most teams do, I am shocked you still try and deny it. The most games played in the AHL by teenagers since Blake took over.

Byfield in the AHL, you still think that is something most teams would have done?
Turcotte in the AHL, you still think that is something most teams would have done?

It's obvious Beniers would not have been up with the Kings until he got AHL time. The prospects he are most similar to would be QB and Byfield, who played a combined 150 AHL games. Vilardi has played 75 AHL games, Kaliyev has played 40, Bjornfot has played 95 AHL games. You really think Beniers would be different?

BTW, since Blake took over here is the AHL usage for Top 5 picks

Ya, the Kings are totally in line with how the rest of the league uses high picks.

Yep, goodbye Oilers. Most overrated team in the league is now out. Turns out you need a lot more than a great PP to get far in the playoffs

could've heard a pin drop in there during that empty net breakaway holy cow

who would've thought hammering 1 line and diving all over the ice wasn't a viable playoff strategy?

Awards are often dumb, yes. Not just in hockey, but in many things. Although I will say Lundqvist was plenty deserving of the Vezina in 2012.

However, I didn't bring up any numbers.

The eye test matters a lot. And it tells me that the rando/journeymen goaltenders overall are doing pretty well.
