NYR did it pretty well, VGS.....BOS seems to do it without rebuilding, STL didn't rebuild....WSH didn't rebuild....

You could have stopped at...there is no guarantee......simple.

But Washington's best players were players drafted as homegrown talents.

NYR and Vegas have never won anything. St. Louis is your one valid example.

Who are the most successful teams of the post lockout era?

Pittsburgh - 4 Cups
Chicago - 3 Cups
Tampa - 2 Cups
LA - 2 Cups
Colorado - 1 Cup (and will be yearly contenders)

All these teams sucked and added multiple star players through the draft, and in most cases with picks in the Top 8 of the draft.

You really don't think that drafting and developing star players is by far the most successful way to build a championship window?

Is this just the Surfin Axl belief that Blake is inventing a new and revolutionary way of building a cup winner?

What penalty did the Blackhawks organization face?

That doesn't erase what I said about them deliberately tanking by trading away young talent - much like Buffalo did when they tried to get McDavid.

And I'm sorry, but don't give me that "nobody's perfect" bullshit. I didn't ask for perfection. Covering up sexual assault for 10 years isn't a f***ing mistake.
Well it is your choice to hold onto all that anger. It isn't going to hurt the Blackhawks or anyone else

No it won't be. I'd bet anyone, any amount they want that within 4-5 years they are back in the playoffs.

They have a lot of young high-end talent already and will be adding someone who will probably end up the best of them. And they will probably be picking in the Top 8 next season.

Not many big markets are willing to wait 9 years to make the playoffs. AEG sure won't especially what they're currently paying Kopi and Drew. Whether you like it or not, AEG is stil calling the shots, they like winners.

nobody is denying this, every team is built different and in different ways. If there was one sure fire way, it would be the model across the nhl. But there isn't. Look at the Oilers, 5 first round picks, going back to Hall, and 12 years later they made it to the WCF once, and 2 first round losses. Everyone kept saying "scary good" even after Mcdavid, but until the last few seasons, a big meh.

I don't agree with everything Blake has done, and sure some picks have not worked out yet , but every team has has to deal with this. You think the Rangers fans are happy with LAF and Kakko?

There is a model across the NHL. Teams usually emulate things that win cups, and the vast majority of cup winners post lockout have been constructed one way. You can cite the failures of teams trying to emulate that, but can't cite anyone who was anywhere close to as successful trying to do it another way, yet you guys support Blake doing it another way, why?

No, the Rangers fans aren't happy with LAF and Kakko, they have been massive disappointments that have set the team back in both the current and likely in the future. Most people on this forum can freely acknowledge that about them, but then can't see it's the same situation with those two drafts with the Kings.

How the **** did we lose to Edmonton again?
The Kings don't have the size that Vegas has to drive the net. Vegas isn't getting pushed around by the Oilers like the Oilers pushed the Kings around. Plus Vegas has a much better coach than the Kings do that plays a better system.

50/50 call, not sure what Martinez was supposed to do there though

And they get it right back...LMAO

Real rough night for Bouchard defensively

Getting called out by ESPN intermission crew. He’s been floating so much during the game.

The Kings were winners this season and last?

And it doesn't take 9 years to properly rebuild. Had the Kings done a proper rebuild when Blake took over instead of continuing this fantasy that they can win with old players because those players won when they were in their early to mid 20's they would be starting to see significant light at the end of the tunnel.

Even if they did it after they fired Stevens, even with the missed and underwhelming picks you are looking at a young core of.

1st in 2023
Clarke
Kempe (maybe the one tweener piece who could carry over)
1st in 2024 (probably the last year the pick would be possibly high like Schenn w/ DL)
Faber
1st in 2022
Byfield
Vilardi
Kaliyev
Anderson
Turcotte

Assuming Clark and the 1st in 2023 are as good as people think, you are playing with house money on QB. Right now the rebuild largely depends on QB in this scenario it doesn't. If he's a star you are beyond loaded, if he's not you can still have a good enough rebuild.

I personally would prefer this over where we are now. And as far as AEG, seems like an excuse without evidence to justify Blake's futile attempt at trying to compete with AK and DD still having anything in the tank. If AEG only cared about the bottom line and not the long-term good of the franchise why have they continued to pay multiple players and coaches to essentially go-away. That doesn't seem like an organization that only cares about the bottom line.

Btw, considering the Kings are trying to win now before AK and DD slow down, they really missed the boat in not trading for Eichel last season.

Because they get to write off a few additional million dollars of losses on their tax returns, in addition to whatever else they claim they lose.

Wait I missed the draft lottery please tell me Chicago did not win the first overall. F**k that organization. Hate the ducks but would have rather they get the bedard.

Did you notice when Kane ran Petro five Knights ran over?

The Kings should take note and the fans should take note when they want Clarke, Spence, and Bjornfot all playing because none of those players would scrum it up.

Wow. ESPN announcers showing Quick no love by saying the net belongs to Hill and Vegas hopes they don't have to turn to Quick.

Quick is now one injury away from winning another Connie! Of course Vegas doesn't want to use their 3rd string goaltender in the playoffs.

So, did Kane find something out in this game?

It was more about hoping for no more injuries than dunking on Quick.
If I am Quick I wouldn't be happy being the third string and not dressing much. I think he felt he would be getting more playing time. To go from superstar goaltender to not even dressing and knowing Quick competitive fire. he isn't happy in this situation.

Since Byfield was 2OA, and Fantilli will be 2OA, we'll never hear the end of it when AF comes in and has success right away for the Ducks.

Only he could have done something about it.
Quick had a shot at earning the job during the regular season after the trade. Unfortunately while he won a fair amount of games, he didn't look stellar in goal for Vegas.

Heck, there will be discussions if Fantilli is playing in the top-6 right away even before success/failure is determined.
