As a Canucks fan I’m pretty sure he’s being traded. Our coach doesn’t sit top six guys even if it’s warranted. He sits rookies and anyone who’s actually played well and not making big $.Boeser a healthy sxratch

You don’t want Boeser. I know he’s a native son, but his skating, never a strength, has gotten slower and even less quick.

D’oh! Yes, you are. I like him for the most part, but some of his personnel decisions are baffling.I would like to point out that we are quite familiar with your coach
I think it took him a year to give Fiala an OT shift.D’oh! Yes, you are. I like him for the most part, but some of his personnel decisions are baffling.

Gonna need receipts on that.Fiala (and Donato) played in OT from the time they got here. It was part of Fenton's "meddling" with the lineups.
BB did use the Parise/Koivu/Suter long shift then bad change strategy in OT though.
Gonna need receipts on that.
Weird. I wonder what I remember us bitching about back then. It was definitely OT related. Maybe just the group he kept starting with or something.Look back at the GDTs from that season. NSH x 2 shortly after they got Fiala. MN had some fun to watch OTs for the first time in forever. It was even mentioned a Fiala/Kunin/Spurgeon line on the ice. ToI has him as 3rd for FWDs with a pretty large gap behind him. He was also the 1st or 2nd shooter in the SO.
Natural stat trick has Fiala at 2:30 of 3v3 ToI in 3 games for 18-19. MN had 3 OT games after they got Fiala.
Add the filter MN against NSH and it's 2:27 ToI (3v3) for Fiala in 2 games. There weren't enough matching penalties to get 3v3 in regulation in either of those games.
Edit* Donato had 2:04 ToI for those 2 games also. People forget he had a great run in MN's top-6 after MN first got him.

Another feather in Fenton's hockey-related cap, I guess. It was Parise and/or Suter being on the ice 2/3 of the 3v3 ToI that season.
Like I said earlier it was Fenton that made BB use Fiala (and Donato) that 1st year. There was some noise about it from Russo after Fenton was fired.
turns out he played, and scored a goal?Boeser a healthy sxratch
Yep. Last minute bc someone was injured. Game tying goalturns out he played, and scored a goal?
I was going to post about it, but decided to exhibit some self control.Kevin Fiala, with two more points last night, is up to T-16th in league scoring, T-10th in even strength production.

Since you broke the ice, though, f***, it pisses me off!
throw on top how annoying it is to see Boldy floundering because he is playing with Tyson Jost and Nic freaking Petan instead of Fiala, with whom he had an obvious chemistry. It's definitely frustrating as a fan of a talent starved team for two decades to be robbed of a talent like Fiala through his prime, only so we can watch guys like Dumba, and old/broken down Zuccarello for an extra year or so.
You need more than one first liner to win in this league. And typically teams are built around their talent. So it's incredibly bewildering that you would trade that talent at the start of his prime for more middle of the lineup guys. Usually you secure the talent and then do what you can with the space that's left.
Yeah, for sure, and I've said it before, but if you keep Fiala, and Kaprizov still leaves for greener pastures, at least you still have Fiala and Boldy as 2/3rds of a legitimate top line. Now if Kaprizov leaves, we have Boldy, who I think can get to Fiala's level, but as it stands, we don't have many, if any, other prospects who project to be true first liners, so we're back to being entirely mediocre.throw on top how annoying it is to see Boldy floundering because he is playing with Tyson Jost and Nic freaking Petan instead of Fiala, with whom he had an obvious chemistry.
So we've not only lost fiala's production, but part of Boldy's. Then you have to worry that both Boldy and Kap will actually want to re-sign here after, BG traded away one of their elite talents ... because of "the room". I dunno, Boldy sure seemed pretty happy about playing with Kevin when he was here.
He's pretty good.Kevin Fiala, with two more points last night, is up to T-16th in league scoring, T-10th in even strength production.
It just hurts to watch this team trade away high end talent and then turn around and admit we need top 6 help. He's pretty good.
Looks like we're out of the Horvat conversations now
