Hate to say it but Anaheim at +1000 is pretty sick value for a team that was basically one win away last year, and returns most of their players in their prime. They are the favorites in the west, Chicago's odds are because of the massive size of the fan base and how much casual money will be put on them. No way with the loss of Saad, Sharp and the uncertainty with Kane are they on the level with Anaheim right now. Realistically their odds should be switched.

St. Louis at 14/1 is lighting money on fire.

I'm pretty bullish on Columbus this year, they are +1200 to win the East. They may be a year away but they have all the pieces to win that conference.

The Kings aren't a great value bet, I was expecting more like +1300 or +1400, but the books know the Kings could easily burn them to, sharp bettors know the Kings missing the playoffs was a fluke and they are a threat to beat any team with or without home ice.

I think Washington has done enough to come out of the east... I will be putting a couple of bucks on them

Well, if I'm a GM of another team, I'm sending an offer sheet over to Nelson after camp starts. That way if the Isles match, they either have to break their rule (which renders it meaningless) or they waste a year of his production.

would love to see this

Lombardi should be on this Nelson guy... see if they can NYI to go for that Nino-Clutterbuck trade again. Top6 guy for a bottom 6 grinder.

Who? Clifford?

Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch:

There have been some whispers among agents and some management who attended the prospect tournament in Traverse City that the Blue Jackets are in trade talks with teams that are looking for forwards. GM Jarmo Kekalainen has stated he believes in his defense, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t upgrade. A trade may become more likely if one or more of their young prospects like Josh Anderson, Oliver Bjorkstrand, Sonny Milano and Kerby Rychel show that they are NHL ready.

Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Herald: Ryan Wilson will be joining Aaron Johnson and Douglas Murray at the Flames training camp on a PTO.

Rich Chere of NJ.com: The Devils have invited Lee Stempniak and Tyler Kennedy to training camp on a PTO. The Devils also signed Jiri Tlusty to a one year contract.

Renaud Lavoie: The Avalanche sign Freddie Hamilton to a two-way $688,000 contract.

Arthur Staple: The Islanders have signed RFA Brock Nelson to a three-year, $7.5 million contract: $1.5 million, $2.5 million and $3.5 million.

Renaud Lavoie: The Panthers sign RFA Jonathan Huberdeau to a two-year, $6.5 million deal.

I was thinking about Brown actually.

Lewis > Brown... can't just be trading Lewis... he's on a steal of a contract for a top line winger.

Not gonna lie, this made me spit out my coffee

he does a lot of charity work. There was a video of him dressed up as a bus driver for a group of kids. none of them recognized him and they he played hockey with them.
Was awesome

Yup. Think what you want on the ice, the guy is just a fantastic human being and ambassador for the game, even in hockey-crazy country. Need one of those for the inland empire please :)

Considering the last minute nature of Nelson's and Huberdeau's deals, those are both more than solid. Awesome.
