How did things go so bad in Lumbus with Pierre-Luc Dubois? He signed his 2 year deal on Dec. 20 , and a month later he wants out and looks to be traded soon.

Trade request was known when he signed, Dubois didn't want hold out and his agent thought a short term deal would be easier for Columbus to trade.

I suppose on one hand, training camp was short so skipping that wouldn't have been as big a deal but he probably didn't want to be at home while Columbus worked things out. I'm always reminded how the Sharks' 2002-03 season got sabotaged by Nabokov/Stuart holding out for the first month. San Jose got off to a terrible start without them, but when they came back Nabokov/Stuart were rusty and had subpar years.

For now, it's a win for Jackets, I think Roslovic will be better as he'll be in a better system and used differntly. Laine gives the Jackets the elite sniper they need. PLD is a very good center, but his attitude needs fixing. Each player wanted out of town and got their wish.
At some point Columbus needs to tell them 'no' or they're never going to hold on to talent.

What are the chances CLB keep Laine after his contract ends?

That's a good question, esp since Aho is his best friend and I'm sure he'd love playing next to him. On the other hand, Kekalainen would have to have at least spoken to that with Laines's agent. I can't see him treading PLD for rental winger. They have a lot of money , CAP wise, so it will be intereting to see if they overpay to keep him.

Maybe Laine will be the player that finally softens Torts' cold heart, and they play many nites of Fortnite together...

Or maybe Laine is a corpse in a dumpster Monday morning and Torts is in cuffs

probably nothing in between

Which led to Dean Lombardi being fired and then hired by the Flyers as a scout and then eventually hired by the Kings as GM. Thanks holdouts!

yeah i'm halfway hoping for the "unlikely friends" story arc but it's probably the latter

Agreed. If Torts and PLD had issues, what makes them think its going to work out with Laine?

From what I've read, the key issued was that PLD didn't consider Columbus a big enough market for him. Not sure if Winnipeg fits that bill either but time will tell if he stays there or not. The other issue might be his lack of work ethic. He wsa outstanding in the playoffs, but inconsistent and lazy too many times in the regular season. Maybe that changes...Minor note, he's also bad on faceoffs, which if he expects to be a top 6 guy, has to improve, career is 44% which is terrible.

Torts has his warts, but his success/record is a good one in Columbus, he's got a good team , that works hard, is tough to play against and has been to the playoffs 4 times under his tenure.
Laine will be getting a shot with a young, talented center to be the sniper that the Jackets need.

I will be interested to see if either Laine or PLD remain with their new clubs. Whoever can get their guy to sign on the dotted line may end up winning the deal in the long run.

I think this trade will benefit a guy like Alex Texier who should take on a full time top 6 role with the Jackets. He’s a sneaky good player.

Roslovic should be pretty happy playing in his hometown. Should give him a real spark.

Toffoli leads the league in goals, tied with Konecny and Horvate with 5 goals.

AA and Kempe is tied in 3rd with 3 goals along with 34 others including Auston Matthews, Patrick Kane, Brad Marchand, Max Pacorietty and Sidney Crosby

Have to wonder if Matthew Tkachuk stops being such a cute media darling now that all of Canada has to deal with him all season.

Bogosian showed some restraint there. I would of snacked MT upside the head.

Campbell was favouring his leg prior to that play. He played well for the Leafs tonight. Good to see he’s doing well.

Andersen is an UFA at seasons end and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Leafs go with a 1A/1B setup next year whereby Jack is 1A and someone they have inside the organization (Justin Woll or Ian Scott) is 1B. They think highly of him.

Ranford did such a good job bringing him along.

What a POS!!! He has to get suspended for this crap. League is pure garbage if they don't stop this sh*t!!!

Not a good look to put your knee on anyone's neck these days.
Cheap shot artist swings his leg over the top of Campbell's head and knees him right in the back of the neck. Dirty play by a dirty player.
