That was terrible by PLD, but there just has to be a better way to sort this out. Jarmo should probably sit down between the 3 of them and just hash it out, because sitting him the entire game isn't going solve anything. Demote him to 4th line or something, but just letting him sit there is not a good like for potential teams

I'm not sure what I'd do. I agree with everyone saying be professional and don't make a scene, but when the player is being a pissy little bitch and taking entire shifts for a leisure skate like that, I'd be peeling the paint off the locker room walls...yet to no avail because PLD doesn't give a crap. It's gotta be maddening.

That's brutal. That's a turn off from other teams too. Yikes.

Right. Then it becomes a huge catch 22, even without the toxicity of locker room issues. Can't trade the guy when he doesn't play well, never mind when he's absolutely dogging it; but he's going to absolutely dog it until he's moved, too. What do you do with that? That's why I feel for Torts and management in this situation. If you're PLD, do yourself a favor you know?

Here's the whole shift, pretty damning tbh

Obviously it's a reflection of PLD and it's inexcusable.

But I'm not sure if sitting him for the rest of the game is the answer either. Very reactionary.

If TMac benched a player for the rest of the game after a lazy shift, who would have been on the ice in the 2nd and 3rd periods last night aside from Quick?

That's the thing with players; you never know when they'll make you look bad as a GM or coach. Not that there aren't bad GMs and coaches.

If a guy doesn't even fight for a puck when it's a foot away from him because he wants out, tell him to get off the bench and go home. Don't bother coming back either.

I'm tired of players not caring. It's not life and death. You're an employee of a major corporation. You're not defending your family's honor. But you are screwing your teammates. If that doesn't count for anything anymore, then every league should just cease operations.

Exactly. PLD is acting like a child, then treat him like one. I'd bench him the next game as well. His agent should be telling him to grow the hell up. You want to be traded? Then play your butt off and give teams a reason not to think you're that immature.

honestly they should have made him a healthy scratch till they find a suitable trade. only play him if they need the body. The second someone asks out publicly they should not wear that jersey again.

remember that 90's movie where a kid becomes GM of a baseball team (think it was the twins) and the pitcher wants a trade so he starts playing like turd. The kid says sure, what is the value of an aging under performing player, or something like that.
Playing like this will only reduce Dubois value and timeliness of a deal.

What i dont understand is why did PLD sign that 2-year extension? If he wanted out, shouldn't he just holdout? He would have the leverage too.

Now he looks like a dumb ass.

Laine did the same thing this off-season (signed an ultra short contract and wait to be traded).

Tough call, it could be either, looked high to me. But it's a crappy cheap shot, your team is losing 6 to 3 with 2 minutes left and you feel the need to do that? Armia has a concussion, which I guess is why Perry got called up.

LEagaue ruled primary point of contact was chest, so Myers won't be the subject of discipine.

I get it from PLD side. Players only have so many years to make $$$. If I am Columbus why would I sign a guy that didn't want to be there. Keep him an RFA until the right deal shows up. Absence makes the heart grow founder and teams would see his value as high no matter what. With him playing that value could go down.

Also I would tell PLD if he signed an offer sheet the team would match and then he would be stuck in Columbus.
