I mean I kind of get what you're saying--if they don't walk out with Covid, no one is the wiser--but, you know, they did violate protocol and get covid, putting everyone else at risk of losing games too.

is that list a confirmed positive though or just a proactive removal based off suspicion/excess of safety? i guess we might never know with hipaa

i get it though, like, they signed the contract saying they'd follow protocol, they didn't.. just seems a bit of security theatre to me if they're just hanging out with each other and a bottle and no one suddenly tests positive

I'm with you. It's like summer camp, though. Everyone knows people are sneaking out. They just don't snitch unless you get mauled by a bear.

Toffoli looking really good for the Habs so far, I'm glad to see him having success. Suzuki also looks like a stud.

Canadians and Canucks going to 10 goals each. LOL. Man terrible defense and goaltending.

From where they were at the time, how was Van supposed to re-sign Toffoli? Other than getting him, and then not being able to help the defense, at least in theory.

You could say Benning's previous moves hindered him from re-signing Toffoli and helping the defense at the same time, but that's an endless butterfly conversation.

If Benning is already an idiot, is re-signing Toffoli a smart move? Broken clock I guess.

Depth scoring was an issue for them last year and affected them in the playoffs. They were the better team (zone time ,scoring ops, etc) vs the Flyers but had no finishers, other than the top line. They took care of that and adding Allen, that will be key in a year where there is a compressed schedule. 5 x 5 they have been getting depth scoring across the boards and TT will be a huge benefit for them.
THey need to clean up the penalties, esp. taking too many in a row. Julian needs to work on that with them, be more discipled. They stay healthy, they should have a deep run.

One of the few that didn't lose the faith on Toffoli. Thank goodness Blake decided to hold him and bet on him rebounding so he could trade him for a better return.

Real rough trade for Benning. It's not as much of an "all-in" move like the Lucic trade, obviously, but it is a semi "all-in" on a team that mostly didn't deserve it. Who knows though: the pick and Madden could turn out to be nothing in the end.

In the end, the Kings flipped that 2nd and a 4th to move up for Brock Faber, who's been lights out at Minnesota and the WJC. Really excited to see Madden in Ontario, whenever the heck they get to playing.

it wasn't even an option for benning to resign toff was it? with hughes and pettersson needing contracts, that money just didn't exist i thought

i dunno, i'm indifferent about it all things considered. i guess yeah, toff wasn't gonna be the guy that was gonna push vancouver over the top but they were in the thick of it

i'm not super duper high on madden but i do hope the best for him and i certainly don't mind another 2nd rounder

Yeah but they could've and really needed to move salary anyway, keep in mind they had Loui Eriksson impersonating a log on their roster

I feel for Benning on this one because it was a tough spot with Covid cutting the season short but if you're still searching for a middle six forward you should find a way to keep Toffoli

Blake or DL would have gotten absolutely raked for this move even if there's a little of sunk cost fallacy

Which is awesome for the Kings but it doesn't mean Faber is what Vancouver missed out on, just like nobody can say with certainty that Conner or Barzal is what the Kings included in the Lucic trade.

Agree with RJ though: this board would be all over the Kings GM if he gave up a Top 5 organizational prospect and a 2nd for a Top 6 rental on a team not expected to push for the Cup.

Exactly. It's the kind of trade that everyone on this board will have PTSD about for the rest of their lives.

Deservedly so. Could you imagine this Kings team with a more physical Matt Roy as well? Our defense could look something like:

Walker - Doughty
Anderson - Roy
Maatta - Cernak

We could essentially split the minutes pretty evenly too, instead of throw 30 at Doughty. Cernak played 21:05 last game for Tampa, we could have used that instead of the 11:14 that MacDermid played.

He went 14th overall in 2014, ahead of Dylan Larkin, Travis Sanheim, David Pastrnak, and he clears waivers. Ouch.

He hasn't shown much to be honest. Imagine if Kempe never made the Kings and was waived. Do we think anyone would claim him? Probably not.

i'll be the first to admit i haven't paid much attention to the stars but i thought honka was supposed to be something. surprised to see nobody even claim him but looking at the news i guess he's just been stinking up the joint if the stars brought him back after playing in finland just to waive him
