I take it that Stuetzle was not a standout in his debut? BUST!

Almost posted this last night but I knew it would come off as bitterness from me

Can't elevate his game vs. tougher competition and checking amirite

Really though he didn't look out of place. But he didn't do anything of note either. It's more of an adjustment than people will want to admit, so many seemed to think he was going to storm out this year and be one of Ottawa's best players out the gate...

Canes 6 defensemen might be the best in the NHL. Even rusty, they kept the wings bottled up. Skjei was a great pickup for them. Pesce looked good, as did Hamiliton.

Skjei is such an interesting case. The Canes are known for being a team that weaponizes analytics effectively, along with the Avalanche. Eric Tulsky in their hockey ops department is often described as one of the best in the biz.

Skjei on the other hand is downgraded by the public analytics community for never having reached the level he showed earlier in his career. However, we all know that NHL teams have access to more granular, exact analytic data. It makes me as a hockey fan and math nerd so curious as to what exactly those analytics look like if a team like them would spend a 1st round pick to add Skjei when they already had a stacked defense with Jake Bean waiting in the wings.

Nathan MacKinnon is a human cheat code and just as much fun to watch as McDavid, maybe even more so since he's built like a brick shithouse.

Yep, at least you know McDavid won't run into you as he flashes by. MacKinnon might not even bother to avoid contact because he knows he'll just run you over.

The phrase "bull in a China shop" has never applied more appropriately.

Jake Voracek dropped an F bomb among other things in an exchange last night with a local reporter he hjas history with. If you google it, or go to spittin' chicklets, they have the link.

Huge loss, minimum of 2 weeks, it is when the rib tears away from the cartilege that c0nnects it to the sternum.

He got dinged along the boards on his first shift.

Good game. Halak the only reason it went to OT, Devils played a strong game. Hughes looks like a new player, you can see he took step forward, he was all over the ice.

And what way to get you 1st NHL goal, a GWG withj 1 second left in OT....

Apparently Hughes was in the 99th percentile in controlled zone entries last year but had an atrocious shooting percentage. He definitely looks more dynamic from the blueline in this season, and he spent a ton of the off time working on his shot and his strength.

He went absolutely off and it was hilarious  Equally hilarious was Konecny trying to keep his shit together

We can't post it here obviously but it's well worth looking up.

Wait, 18 year olds aren't finished products?

The last 4 months has told me otherwise!

Yikes that guy sounds like he’s an WCHL guy. Not even ECHL.

Looking forward to seeing if the Sens can slap the Leafs around again tonight.

They may not be a playoff contender but, DJ Smith will have the Sens give an honest hardworking effort each game. They are going to be a pain in the ass to play.

I like their top 6 going forward. They are going to be fun to watch. Keep an eye on Batherson and Norris. Both were excellent with Belleville (AHL). Recall, Norris was part of the Karlsson trade. By all accounts, he looked very solid in the shortened training camp.

Austin Watson was a good under the radar pickup for that club. He plays a gritty game and will get under the skin of the opposition.

Keith Yandle hasn't missed a game since March 6, 2009, 866 straight, which is impressive. But he's fallen out of favor with Coach Q and could be a healthy scratch in the opener
Which is an awful way for an iron man to end.

as if florida's reputation wasn't bad enough, that's a sure-fire way to make sure veteran players don't want to go there
