Never liked the other Subban in net... he gives up way too many softies and makes bad decisions that ultimately leads to goals.

Chicago doesn't have Crawford or Lehner now. Gonna be a long, short season for them if they can't stop pucks.

The first two....yeah you could call those soft, but the 3rd goal tip in, Stamkos's one timer from his office, and Point twiddling his thumb in the slot between the dots....probably have to be lucky more than good to stop those.

Apparently it's McDavid's birthday today too. Cliffy and McJesus, two peas in a pod.

Also, I don't think the Blues are going to miss Pietrangelo too much. Parayko and Dunn both seem to have got the message that it's their time to shine now (not to mention Krug). Perunovich should be a good one as well once he cracks the roster.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Alt was mainly brought in to be a taxi squad guy, right? He’s in the opening night roster cause walker and Macdermid are deemed unfit to play.

Once he clears, I think he will be the guy that gets sent to taxi/ahl

so therefore we had a chance to test a player that had potential
anyway i would have claimed him, you would not have
all good

I could be wrong here, but don't you have to keep a waiver claim on your NHL roster for at least 2 weeks after the claim? The Kings have so many bodies right now that it could have just been a numbers situation, especially with needing space for Walker and MacDermid once they're cleared.

Dubois wants to leave Blue Jackets, Tortorella says
"[Dubois] has had a good camp, but it's a short leash with me as far as this is concerned," Tortorella said. "He needs to continue to do the things to help this team win and be the best teammate he can be, or I'm not sure where it goes. It's a situation, and we'll go to it day by day."

"It's very difficult to me when a guy doesn't want to be here at such a young age and the amount of time we've poured into him to try to develop him and is just looking to go," Tortorella said. "It's hard for me. I'm not sure where it goes with me as the season gets going, I'll be quite honest with you, because I want to spend my time developing the people that want to be here, but I still have to coach the hockey team to be the best it can be."

I know Torts shoots his mouth off a lot, but that's a pretty honest, fair answer. I don't think he's actually 'hurt,' but that kind of makes sense....pour your heart into a guy you want to build around, and he says he wants out already...how do you coach/develop him around that? It's some friction. Like the weeks before a breakup  Like, do I continue being nice and cooking, or do i throw you a f***ing burnt waffle?

It's definitely a tough spot for the coach to be in, can't fault Tortorella for having those feelings.

Now Dubois is destined to become a King, and Jeff Carter can pass the torch to the next former Blue Jacket who gets booed mercilessly every time he returns to Columbus. I'm sure much like Carter, he will also score against them every time they play.

Is it just something in the water in Columbus? I've never been there, but is it just the city and the program? It's not like they haven't had success, they're a good team. They just can't seem to catch a break. I feel for them.

They have a very nice arena. Teams probably overshadowed by the buckeyes

Before? Who knows. Now? Possibly Torts. Management seems good, but yeah, when it just keeps happening, that lends itself to some organizational self-examination

I'm guessing things may have turned sour for Dubois in Columbus during contract negotiations based on this article from their beat writer, Aaron Portzline.

Blue Jackets facing delicate contract negotiation with Pierre-Luc Dubois
The Athletic’s Aaron Portzline reported this week that talks between Dubois and the Blue Jackets appear to have stalled, and could lead to a chilly fall of negotiations (or non-negotiations). What makes this whole thing worth watching is the way the Blue Jackets have had a tendency to use their leverage with RFA’s in contract negotiations and draw things out as long as possible.

As Portzline points out, the Blue Jackets are no strangers to messy RFA situations.

Columbus and their management created this mess. Reminds me of how often the Kings would low-ball their own players, which is why so many Kings RFAs would end up missing training camps.

Ohio man you either love it or hate it. Think of the major cities, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland.
