Watching other teams break out of their zone just makes me think wtf was Babcock thinking this entire season.

Needing to upgrade on personals aside, our break out's failures makes no sense considering our D strength SHOULD be break outs!

Whether it's getting the forwards to buy in to help the d, system wise, that's all on coaching staff.

I can understand needing to upgrade our D for actual defense, especially boxing out forwards, breaking up cycles, battles in front of the net, etc.

It just doesn't make sense that a team full of elite skating PMD are so awful at break outs. It was constant stretch pass + icings whole year. I read we even led playoffs by big margin in icings.

Washington finally beat Pittsburgh!
and we're gonna have a new cup champ ladies and gentlemen!
(please, NSH or Tampa)

Been a long time since we've seen a three peat. That's a lot of playoff hockey, and it's tough.

75% chance of having a first time winner too, regardless of the Preds-Jets outcome. Would like to see that series go seven though.

I wouldn't mind Washington either to be honest. Winnipeg is definitely the darkest timeline though

this is how I see it:
WSH is like "us"those hapless lovable losers that never win anything, so if they win - it makes me have faith that we can win one day.

Tampa - meh. they are good. I'm not fan of what Stamkos did last summer, but i can dig it. though that's two cups vs. 0 cups for the Leafs so blegh.

NSH. it would make me v. sad that they won a cup before we did. but I can live with it.

Winnipeg. I don't want them to, only because I would have likedthe leafs to end the whole "Canada Cup Drought" thing. But I really don't have an issue with that team, and they are good. damnit.

Vegas. I am sorry. I love Flower and all, but if they win, I am going to be sick to my stomach for such a long time. I know it's not your typical expansion team (they didn't have to dilute the wealth) and everything but still. my brother is already ribbing me about "Vegas WHAT?! and the Leafs are? HAHAHA, so i couldn't handle it from like the world.

Boston peppered our left side of the zone with shots. With where they were getting their shots off from, I think the Leafs' center men are to blame. Then again, seeing as how high Boston's scoring rate was, I'm willing to bet that cross ice plays originating from the RIGHT side, and passes from the half and side boards were doing damage. Shots that involve the puck moving cross ice are generally more dangerous which, in turn, means more goals but also rebounds.

As for breakouts, our left side defense and our right side defense is basically night and day wrt being able to breakout. Boston attacked our LHD because the RHD weren't confident enough with the puck to do much themselves. Part of that has to do with how the Leafs forwards would make themselves available as well. With our defenders unwilling to rush the puck and instead relying on poor passing plays, it affected the Leafs' ability to attack. Though part of me thinks that this was partly due to coaching since Boston's defenders weren't shy in rushing the puck out--and they're not all maestros at doing this.

Part of why Tampa was so successful were the minutes played by Hedman, McDonagh and Stralman.

Weird series...Jets blew Preds out of the water, with those catfish jumping around on the shore, in game 5...now they are down 0-4 playing at home to clinch the series...guess this is good for Vegas.

Nice I want the Jets out asap.

Great team and all, but I'm just selfish and want the Leafs to be the ones to gloriously bring that cup back up to Canada for the first time in 25 years and counting (and 50 plus for the Leafs on top of that obviously)

Should be a great game 7 too bad it's not until Thursday though.

I just want the Jets out (second worst fan base behind oilers) After that I’m in the Vegas and Caps train. That’s final I wanna see.

Forgot about Vegas. Yeah, they're a nice story and all but it would be so painful if they won.

Vegas winning would be such a slap in the face to fans and teams that are long in the tooth without a championship, or have never won at all.

I’d especially feel bad as an expansion team that didn’t get anywhere near the same advantages when they entered the league.

The funny thing is, since 67 expansion, this version of Minny, the Jets, Arizona Columbus and Vegas are the only expansion teams not to make a Stanley Cup final.
