He played us in order to get Yzerman to up the ante and had no intention of leaving TB. My understanding was Leafs offered more $$$. Would rather see long suffering Caps knock them off if they can get by the Pens.

nah. we offered the same as Yzerman did
but i get yah. :)

I think it can be corrected, as long as Leafs and the players acknowledge it, rather then ignore it because you don't want to piss off any of the players. If they buy in and acknowledge, it can definitely improve with maturity and experience.

Leafs best players will need to play/battle/ in the dirty areas to win.

I mean Tampa core is older obviously, I'm sure some of them had to learn and adapt as well over the years.

exactly :)

They are more suited for playoff hockey. This is why playoff experience is so valuable.

TB has been able to find diamonds in the rough. Point, Cirelli, Johnson and Gourde. Too bad we did not see what we had in Stralman.

Stralman? R u nuts? Stralman was jobless and no Nhl or even Ahl team would take him for free. So not 1 of 60 teams seen any value. Not until Nyr got into serious d trouble with their d falling like flies they brought him in for 1 mil if memory serves.
He made most of his opportunity, but he was worse than Jake this year. Good for him though to rebound in that way.

Not sure why you say he was jobless and nobody would take him for free. He was traded to Calgary and then to Columbus before flourishing in NY and signing with TB. But as you say, good for him.

Nylander didn't struggle this year, he struggled in the playoffs. He had a pretty solid year. He had the exact same point from last year in both playoffs and regular season

Having Hyman isn't hurting Matthews but it isn't helping him either. Do you think Hyman plays with McDavid, Crosby, or Malkin? not a chance
Even Kunitz scored 20+ goals before he started to play with Crosby. So he was a 20 goal scorer already

Brown is a good 3rd liner. But he doesn't play top 6 in any of the teams in the playoffs right now. None

I think Hyman somewhat hurts Matthews because he is basically a non threat everywhere but behind the goal line, which makes it easier to double, sometimes triple team Matthews. Even when he is behind the net, Hyman's blind pass in front routine rarely finds a Leafs stick

Sure, Hyman helps the line by retrieving pucks from dump-ins. But maybe a line that features Matthews shouldn't be dumping it in. Instead, enter the zone with speed and puck possession to push the D back and open up space.

I just think Hyman's minor benefits can be outdone by someone with more offensive instincts, which will help Matthews much more.

There's no way they are getting by the Jets and even if they do, Tampa would out speed them quite considerably. VGK is good, but not THAT good.

There's no way they weren't suppose to get a Top 10 Pick this season
There's no way they would make the playoffs this season
There's no way they would get home ice advantage in round 1 even if they did make the playoffs
There's no way they would not only get home ice advantage but get 1st in their division
There's no way they'd not only beat the Kings but they'd sweep them
There's no way they're making the Conference Finals this season

When seemingly impossible, Vegas has proven possible

It's damn hard to win the cup. Look at the teams that made the playoffs for many years and still have not won. SJ, Washington, Ottawa, Nashville, NYR, Minnesota, St. Louis, Vancouver. How would the Leafs not end up being on that list?
