Evoking some bad memories. Bob looks in the zone.

Yeah, that game brought me right back to his performance last year. Oilers dominated large stretches and all the work got wiped out by one guy.

Hard to say what you can do about it, other than dirty stuff. He’s such an on-and-off performer and all they can really do is hope he loses his groove before the series gets away from them.

It was under Bob... the ref....blew blowing it dead
The edge of the puck was under his pad but more than half was still out and he wasn’t making any other effort to cover it.

I know it wasn’t ever going to count I just think it should be fair game to go after the puck there.

On the one hand it’s kinda validating to see bobrovsky play like he did against the canes last year in the finals. On the other hand though I kinda think any of the playoff teams in the east could have beaten this oilers team. Any of the second round teams anyway

The best result would be for the Oilers to keep playing the way they have, Bob to play the way he has, and have it end in a sweep. Then see how many change their tune regarding our sweep.

It was primarily a 2-0 game where the Oilers were not remotely outclassed. Two breakdowns were perfectly executed. The Oilers pp was amazing per usual. Bob or no Bob you’d think that eventually the seam passes will do what they do. Bob was also in the right place at the right time on a couple of chances and got a bounce or two throughout the game. The Oilers might need the next game but I could see them winning it now that I’ve seen them play each other.

Bobs set the tone early on when he f***ed up after a save, gave the puck right to Hyman (I think) points blank, and basically fell in making the follow-up save completely out of the crease, but the team gave him time to recover. He's beatable, but seems to play some of his best hockey in the playoffs when he's in the zone

This would be disappointing. Especially for a team like ours where we’re pretty solid drafting in the late rounds. Benefits teams like the Rangers where they’d always be a top free agent destination

The last sentence is the reason why it likely won't happen. The NHL is much healthier financially when the southern markets and smaller markets are strong, and the league is sort of in a golden era right now when it comes to the strength of their non-traditional franchises. I don't think that the league wants to squander it.

Yea, this (much like the bullshit "tax disadvantage" complaints) is just another way to benefit all the "big market" teams. It would drastically cut down on scouting staff, visibility, and the rewards of finding a "diamond in the rough". It would hurt visibility of hockey outside the top players in the top development leagues. Most later round players who don't get a contract after 2-4 years likely weren't going to get one from ANYONE anyway, they're not likely being held up by a team. Might as well just do away with the draft altogether and say everyone is a UFA at 20. It'd be better just to say if a player requests a trade prior to signing an ELC contract then that team has X amount of time to trade them and the compensation must match the draft position?
