I felt that way about the team 3 years ago...that they could honestly come back from anything because the defense could really turn it up and crush dreams...not as much the last couple. One could ask why were they down 0-3 to begin with given all the experience they had as a collective?

Aho's post-game presser after the loss..the mix of anger and bewilderment..he came across as kinda tired of the excuses and what ifs. I felt like he took more ownership than the coach and some others. So perhaps an epicenter in the making.
This, and there is an emotional element missing. The wall breaking seems to be less violent.

I think it's the same as every offseason. People search for answers to why it didn't go right. It makes for fun discussions but there isn't really an answer. You throw the same teams out there enough times and this team across the years certainly wins its fair share. All you can do is keep running out good teams and hoping it wins 16 games against whatever 4 given teams.

Interesting that full capacity will be for select games only

God half the sightlines are going to be completely unviewable. Those ends 20 ft above the ice? If you're not in that first row you're gonna lose half the dam attacking zone. And on the opposite side where the ends start curving before the end of the rink? you're gonna be twisted at an angle to watch half the game and have the lower seats blocking your view of the goal. Also, having watched the Checkers from an arena designed for basketball (Spectrum in Charlotte), half the lower bowl will also be a virtual dead zone for visibility because the angle is far too low.

I think we did a good job giving them a bit of a scare. I think you can also question why we were down 3-0. Or why we couldn’t win on the road last season. We’ve been close. I do think we’ve been missing an element or two, whether you think that’s leadership or sandpaper. I think this off season is a potential time to maybe do something about that, we’re going to be different no matter what. Florida themselves changed their style a few years ago, which led to them going after Bennett, Tkachuk…arguably Reinhardt. I don’t think we’d go amiss making a move or two in that direction.

Doesn’t really matter if we did or didn’t have “it” this season….as we’re going to be a different team next season. If we had it we probably are losing some and need to reset and if we didn’t here’s a time of change to find some.

I mean Florida won the President's Trophy and then blew it up a bit in that following offseason moving a lot of big pieces that contributed to that President's Trophy to get those guys with many predicting they would take a big step back and miss the playoffs, only to see them turn into arguably the best and most sustainable team in the league. They realized that they, even with the best record in the league, were not good enough to win in the playoffs, so they made some major moves and its vaulted them to a level that, with all due respect, we wish we could play at.

Its going to take a similar shakeup for us to take that next step. The roster we have isn't good enough, and the more we run it back the more we are wasting our window.

It'll be like when the Isles played in Barclay's Center. The arena was awful for hockey, with the upper deck behind the goal completely blocked from being able to see the closest side of the ice.

I feel like having wives and girlfriends take a road trip with the team in general (not just playoffs) is a bad idea.

Mom's and dad's yeah, kids? Maybe in some cases? Wives? Yeah I'd say no.

Smart man would only bring his wife OR girlfriend...not both...amirite? That's just asking for trouble
A millionnaire gets given some leeway on the smartness department.

A husband and wife are having dinner at a very fine restaurant when an absolutely stunning young woman comes over to their table, gives the husband a big open-mouthed kiss, then says she'll see him later and walks away. ‪‪ The wife glares at her husband and says, "Who in the hell was that?"

"Oh," replies the husband, "She's my mistress."

"Well, that's the last straw," says the wife. "I've had enough. I want a divorce!"

"I can understand that," replies her husband, "But remember, if we get a divorce it will mean no more shopping trips to Paris, no more wintering in Barbados, no more summers in Tuscany, no more Jaguar in the garage, and no more yacht club. Not only that, but no more diamonds, no more credit card, and large bank account."

"But, he said, "The decision is all yours."

Just then, a mutual friend of theirs enters the restaurant with a gorgeous babe on his arm.

"Who's that woman with Bobby?" asks the wife.

"That's his mistress," says the husband.
"Ours is prettier," she replies !

Because I feel it brings the potential for unnecessary drama. Mom's and dad's seem to enjoy the trips and catch up with their sons. Wives and girlfriends are always going to be there at home, and they are going to be more "in defense" of their man.

I guess a better example would be someone like Scott Darlings wife, who was always whining about everything Hurricanes from the city to the TV guys to his own teammates. Having someone like her join one of these trips just seems like a powder keg is waiting to be lit.

It was his sister, I think?

I mean the way she was complaining about everything you'd think it was his wife and she moved here with him. :dunno:

Slightly off topic but one of the OG Charlotte Hornets had a wife of Cuban decent that apparently was a handful to deal with, she'd write to the newspaper about how she thought her husband wasn't being treated fairly or whatever. The newspaper dubbed her the "Cuban misses crisis" 😆
