I think Edmonton is weaker than they were last year, but they're still my pick to win the cup. It'll depend on their goaltending IMO.

yeah there are a lot of potential deadline adds available that can help them and as a window open team they can move just about anything to make it happen.

Imagine them adding Fox or Miller or even "just" brock nelson

Well the Oilers just went up 4-2 halfway through the game against the Panthers and somehow lost 6-5 in regulation. Skinner had a goal banked in off the back of his helmet.

Kakko hasn't been dealt the easiest hand, but let's call a spade a spade, he is one of the worst Top 2 picks in recent memory.

Maybe if he gets a change of scenery he could develop into a 25 goal middle six type, but this was another giant whiff by the scouting community when it comes to that draft. Kakko, Dach, Turcotte, Podkolzin, can safely throw Zegras in their now too. That was certainly the year you really wanted to win the lottery.

I was way off on that draft. I thought there were real chances in the top 20 to be franchise defining for teams and there was going to be the next crop of stars from this draft.
But it hasnt been long and Dach Byram Podklozin Newhook Broberg Thomson Krebs already have been dealt. Wouldnt be surprised if Cozens Kakko Turcotte Zegras and Knight are also moved at some point sooner than later.
A lot of them still loom like kids and havent really developed much physically.

Kaliyev for Kakko straight up. Throw in some IN-N-OUT gift cards if needed.

Not making excuses for any of them but I wonder what sort of late bloomer stuff we see from the 2018-2022 drafts with the covid years and all

The Rangers haven't been great with developing forwards for the past few years, either. Aside from Cuylle, the Rangers haven't really done much.

So, I don't even know if he was a bad pick as much as a bad set of circumstances.

Well.....Franchise defining for sure.....just not in the way you thought.

I'd take Celebrini over Bedard rn. Buffalo is in absolute shambles, Rags also lost to f***ing Nashville so they're in a steep dive with no wings. Wonder if there's some trade opportunism to be had with either team. Feel like Trochek could use a change of scenery, possibly Zbad as well....

You have to be playing a pass in that situation, and that means your legs are moving and opening up holes.

I don't think he really did that though, he just didn't seal to the ice appropriately. But I DO think it was sneaky of Celebrini, I mean most 5 hole goals are scored thru deception and that was magic in that regard. It was a sick goal BECAUSE Hellebuyck didn't play it 'right'.

It's got so bad that Pegula had a meeting with the team yesterday. They immediately proceeded to shit the bed against Montreal afterwards.

Terry is a really poor speaker, and he's getting up there in age. I imagine his meeting/speech with the team went over terribly and was awkward.

Please trade us Cozens.

I'm fully expecting the Rags and Sabres to fire their coaches if they keep losing. I think Nashville perma buck broke NY yesterday. Its still early though, Edmonton had a godawful start and they sacked their coach @ the most opportune time, ending up in the Finals.

I'm not sure Borgen has any value at all. He's terrible this year, and a pending UFA. I think he's thrown in primarily to balance out the salaries.

So Kaako's value is a 3rd and a 6th?

Sounds about right, he's not a kid anymore (turns 24 in less than 2 months) and hasn't really shown much of anything.

I think fans place more value on where a player was at 17 and factor that + draft capital used on him when discussing trades more than GM's do in actual trades.
