I think Edmonton is weaker than they were last year, but they're still my pick to win the cup. It'll depend on their goaltending IMO.

yeah there are a lot of potential deadline adds available that can help them and as a window open team they can move just about anything to make it happen.

Imagine them adding Fox or Miller or even "just" brock nelson

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

Well the Oilers just went up 4-2 halfway through the game against the Panthers and somehow lost 6-5 in regulation. Skinner had a goal banked in off the back of his helmet.

Kakko hasn't been dealt the easiest hand, but let's call a spade a spade, he is one of the worst Top 2 picks in recent memory.

Maybe if he gets a change of scenery he could develop into a 25 goal middle six type, but this was another giant whiff by the scouting community when it comes to that draft. Kakko, Dach, Turcotte, Podkolzin, can safely throw Zegras in their now too. That was certainly the year you really wanted to win the lottery.

I was way off on that draft. I thought there were real chances in the top 20 to be franchise defining for teams and there was going to be the next crop of stars from this draft.
But it hasnt been long and Dach Byram Podklozin Newhook Broberg Thomson Krebs already have been dealt. Wouldnt be surprised if Cozens Kakko Turcotte Zegras and Knight are also moved at some point sooner than later.
A lot of them still loom like kids and havent really developed much physically.

Kaliyev for Kakko straight up. Throw in some IN-N-OUT gift cards if needed.

Seems like a lot of high picked forwards in recent drafts have been underwhelming.

A lot of them have shown moderate flashes but haven't sustained or improved. Even Bedard relative to his hype looks underwhelming this year.

San Jose got the real gem IMO. Celbrini gonna be special.

The Rangers haven't been great with developing forwards for the past few years, either. Aside from Cuylle, the Rangers haven't really done much.

So, I don't even know if he was a bad pick as much as a bad set of circumstances.

Well.....Franchise defining for sure.....just not in the way you thought.

I'd take Celebrini over Bedard rn. Buffalo is in absolute shambles, Rags also lost to f***ing Nashville so they're in a steep dive with no wings. Wonder if there's some trade opportunism to be had with either team. Feel like Trochek could use a change of scenery, possibly Zbad as well....
