I don't think Milkfic is as bad as the Omegaverse, which I definitely only found out about from reading that main board thread.

Lost this guy last night. My heart is crushed. Only 9 (not young, certainly) but just came out of nowhere. They weren't even going to perform the emergency surgery but went along with it. He made it through surgery only to pass away about 36 hours after due to complications. Guy is/was resilient as f*** though. He's had about 9 surgeries over the years for various freak type stuff (like the hematoma that left his right ear to lay down due to scar tissue) and is tough as nails. One of the best looking animals I've ever owned. And he absolutely ruled these mountains. RIP my good boy.

Damn man, really sorry for your loss. RIP to that good boy.

lol Dubas is GM again

Hasn't he been the GM the whole time he's been there? Basically just waiting for Spezza to have enough experience to give him the role?

Are those diversity hires or old boys' club hires?
A little bit of everything.

Some of the people I know think Kessel has a real future as a hockey exec if she wants to pursue it. This looks like a sign that she wants to. Curious to see how that goes over the years.

r the years.
Officially he was President of hockey Ops and was looking for a GM.

He's probably going to do like Sakic and hire a GM down the road but it could take time. IMO he wants to be a GM more than President.

He at least had the interim GM title on his initial hiring.

I don't see how that is reconciled. He could have simply had just the GM title if he wanted it in Pittsburgh, but took the President title to do more and have a wider span of influence on the organization.

This whole thing is so Kyle Dubas. The same guy that coincidentally has way more puff pieces than any other front office guy in history.

Also fitting that he somehow got a promotion to the very job secure title of President of Hockey Ops, despite not accomplishing anything, but that wasn't enough for him. He wants the credit that comes with the GM title too.

This should put to bed whether he really wanted Shannahan's job or not.

Only reason he's not running for President of the United States, is because he was born in Canada. Look out Trudeau.

The weird thing about Dubas is that he went from one team where his hands were allegedly tied by the team president in terms of moving out a star player contract to a new team where the ownership ties the hands of the GM in terms of moving on from a core of three very old players.

My pure guess is they’ve offered complete buy in to his full scale rebuild in a few years and the job security to go with it. Give a solid try to let the core 3 ride to glory… then have full autonomy to build what he wants.

3 years of crap before starting from scratch (severe lack of picks and prospects in the previous 6-7 years). This is going to take ages. We're 10 years away from Dubas' team doing anything meaningful, if he gets there.

Define meaningful… playoffs? Moving to contend? Winning a cup?

I'd put the Sens instead of the Wings but what do I know.

Now he gets 8-10 years of it not being his fault to bask in adulation.

Detroit has an easily top 5 pool (I’d say top 2 or 3) with buildable and tough to get pieces in the NHL. I could get swapping with Ottawa, but Detroit should be in the conversation. They’ll have the best defense in the league 3 years from now and 3 horses at center.
