This was inevitable after the Staios hiring and it was surprising it wasn't done immediately when the new owner took over but maybe they just needed a reason. Dorion's a good scout and judge of amateur talent but one of the worst GMs in recent memory. That doesn't automatically mean things will be better because we're already seeing Chiarelli rumours but getting him out of there was the correct decision. He's atrocious.

Hope they hire Chia. In that case Chris needs to start making calls to Ottawa again.

I will give him credit for drafting and then locking up his young core with reasonable deals. His trade history... not so much.

Gotta say, as much as Sens fans must feel annoyed because of the Pinto situation, the loss of a 1st, their mediocre start to the season...

Listening to Andlauer, you've got to have a pretty good feeling on who runs the team now. He's not shying away of standing up to the NHL, or getting his point across about accountability.

DJ Smith on the other hand, he's hearing the theme music of Halloween listening to this press conference.

That’s not great from the NHL imo.

Standing up to the NHL sometimes gets you punished.

The Bruins do things out of the public eye behind closed doors and always seem to get treated well.

I hope the Sens doesn't hire Chiarelli. I would much prefer he is hired by a Central division team or Vegas.

So the Sens doesn't divulge info about Dadonov and they get punished. What kind of punishment will the NHL get for not divulging ongoing investigations to a guy prior to buying a team? Oh I'll answer my own question...Nothing, nada, zilch...

The NHL probably thinks fining them two million or whatever it was is worse than forfeiting draft picks. In hindsight, it looks terrible for the league even though no questions asked they (NHL) think it was solid punishment. We won't talk about how the club made 3 million from Bedard jerseys alone.

I'm pretty sure the NHL didn't even know they should've let the Senators know LMAO.

Surely nobody is stupid or ignorant enough to hire Chiarelli as a GM again.

Vancouver has a 1.074 PDO. That regression is going to hit so hard when it comes around. Teams don't keep anywhere close to that high of a PDO over the course of an 82-game season. Not even the 13/14 Avs had one that high, they were a 1.018 PDO team. Good luck Vancouver when your hot streak comes to an end.

Good thing to keep an eye on over the year but that stat is currently skewed from playing the Oilers and their pathetic goaltending twice

I don't know if you guys know this but a 73-page report of anything would have lots of things in it. What the flying f*** did they need to report on this? All the history of trades ever as examples?

70 of those pages probably had pictures. Someone accidentally printed their staff profiles to pdf and attached it to the report.

Yeah, he got burned like crazy on trades, and holy SHIT I thought Ron Francis was bad when it came to making bad calls on goalies--Dorion tops them all.
Dorion:

Amateur scouting skills: 9/10
Trading skills: 4/10
Contract negotiation skills: 10/10
Pro scouting NHL goalie skills: 1/10

Some people don't know this but not only Dorion's dad was also a scout for the NHL but he was the head scout for the Leafs in the early 90's. Pierre literally grew up scouting amateur talent with his dad.
