Around the League - 2023/24

Yeah that one was rather wild considering that they literally cleared the benches and everything. I think the Power OT goal also came with like 2 seconds left which meant that the game technically ended and was restarted because of a missed offside on the OT goal. I didn't notice while watching but did they do a faceoff at center ice to formally end the game or just zero out the clock after the goal was scored?

I'm not sure lol I had actually kind of stopped watching at that point, but still had my stream open. Wandered back from making lunch or whatever and half heartedly watched the shootout

Yeah same here. I was cracking up when Power scored and walked away for a few minutes only to come back as the refs were calling the goal off for offside.

They put 20 seconds on the clock. The clock is supposed to technically stop when Byram and Tuch went offside.

Cozens actually almost won it again with 5 seconds left but got stopped point blank.

The Penguins look like a mentally checked out hockey team, including 87.

As fun as it can be to see the opposing team's goal erased in a big moment, I also think it's a huge stupid buzzkill of a review.

Yeah I watched everything that came after the call itself. I was moreso wondering if they dropped the puck for a faceoff when Power scored the goal since there was like 2 seconds left on the clock. My reasoning being that once they drop the puck, surely they can't justify calling the goal back even though essentially, with 2 seconds left, the game was over. But yeah, Cozens definitely threw his head back on his chance once they restarted the play.

The playoffs this year are going to be a waste of 1.5 months. The Panthers are going to win outright and decisively. They don't lose more than 2 games this year and that's a @Pierce Hawthorne guarantee.

I'm an avid fan of hockey. I routinely go to both NCAA, NAHL games. I meet new people and have wonderful conversations almost every single game.

I avoid the main board here because those people sometimes legit frighten me with regards to the future of humanity. I mean true existential fear for humanity.
 
I like Scott Hartnell but man that hair cut is just bad. Looks like they shaved off the sides and just glued it on the top of his head

The notion that you have to vote for Matthews for the Hart if he hits the magic number 70 based on precedent really annoys me. First, there was no Rocket Richard back then but there is now so he would be rewarded for his great goal scoring season. Second, I really don't like these arbitrary numbers being set as benchmarks and voters going based on that. So if it's 70 he's the MVP but if it's 68 then it goes to MacKinnon? That's dumb.

MacKinnon currently has 31 more points on the season and 14 fewer goals. His team is also better (although not by much when you factor GP). Matthews isn't even the leading scorer on his own team and he should be league MVP? **** outta here.
