It's annoying because Oilers going on a run like this was, while unlikely, not impossible. But people (myself included) didn't account how shitty the Western playoff wild card race is.

All I'm saying is, f*** Edmonton and f*** whoever said it was good of them getting better.

Lol Oilers on a 5 game win streak and probably 6 but they hardly made a dent in the standings. They have games in hand on a bunch of teams but they pretty much have to go on a crazy pace to make it to a Wild Card spot.

Darnit to heck now we're at the point of the season where the Avs lose every game and the shitbag Oilers and Leafs win every game

I can't believe I let the Oilers and Leafs rattle me so much, they don't accomplish anything
Until the Oilers win the cup they will always be the team that got swept by Pavel Francouz.

If they win tonight which it looks like they will, they’ll be 5 points behind Arizona and Nashville for the wildcard spot with game or games in hand. I think they will get in. Preds and Yotes will probably plummet

RIP to anyone who has Kaprizov in fantasy lol. What the hell happened to this guy?

They might but at some point the Oilers are gonna slump and when they slump its usually hard. Will be interesting to see if they can collar it when it happens.

They can’t afford any long slumps for sure. I don’t think they can afford to lose more than 2 games in a row rest of the season

As soon as they reach AZ and Nashville (soon) all they have to do is not be the worst team of those 3 for the remainder of the season. Piece of cake.

Also, for as much as we talk about the ages of cores on this forum:

Kopitar is 36
Doughty is 34
Danault will be 31 by the playoffs

I know they have younger guys complementing them, but if age is such a major concern around here then surely this Kings team is going to have issues. If it's not, they won't.

I'll say like I always have: goaltending will be their downfall. Idgaf who they play in the postseason, they will have the worse goalie in that series.

Yeah. Byfield taking off is huge but PLD hasn’t took over the 1C role. If your someone heavily concerned with age I can’t see how L.A can be your favorite.

I don’t think there’s any dominant contenders this season. Nobody you can pencil in having a deep run without worry. Just a bunch of contenders/playoff teams. Some bad luck/trades can easily offset a lot. As of right now I think Avs are slightly behind L.A/Vegas and right there with Dallas/Edmonton. Canucks are gunna be a sneaky team to watch if they have a good deadline.

The Canucks have both Tyler Myers and Nikita Zadorov on their blueline. Shit ain't happening for them lol.

Probably not but if they can add a piece or two at the deadline I think they could upset a team or two. They have the top end talent and if Demko gets hot who knows.

I don't think there's a ton of separation in the West right now. Who's healthy, momentum, what goalies fall apart etc. will decide alot. Despite Talbot/Hill/Thompson playing great right now they along with the Avs/Oilers have potential to get bad goaltending in any given series. It can be overrated in most years but I really do think the deadline could have a big impact in the West this season.

Yah. Seems like hes figuring out the league. Guy is so talented. Him and Kent Johnson connecting on that goal the other night probably made Jacket fans happy.
Columbus really f***ed up.

Instead of going with the youth movement they have Laine and Gaudreau signed to huge contracts.

They have 2 really solid rookie lines but Gaudreau gets spoonfed minutes. Fantilli will turn out fine, but I fully expect a few guys like Chinakhov to have a breakout season once he leaves Columbus.

No idea what they're going to do if they have a fully healthy line-up.
