Considering? Brother that should have been the move two weeks ago.
Jeff Skinner is playing Montreal next though. I know hes good for 2 points there and hes playing the Avs soon where he will get 2 goals. Its Toffoli I wanna drop but hes facing Calgary next and he will for sure score. RNH is the only other guy due to man games but Oilers going on historic run soon. I should just drop Georgiev.

IMO the Kings are the best team in the NHL right now.
Insanely deep forward group but that goaltending is going to get exposed in the playoffs like it has the last 2 seasons. Talbot got the blanks tonight but its Cam Talbot. Kings are a goalie away from coming out the west.

You don't need a good goalie when you play the trap as good or better than the Devils from the 90's.

Kings are good because their forward group is absolutely elite defensively. Their center line especially is insane.

I mean those Devils teams had a HOF goalie still lol. I have no faith in Talbot. Thats their weakest position heading into the playoffs and they going learn real quick that hes not the answer if thats who they decide to be their #1

The only contending team in the West with a good goalie is Dallas. Edmonton speaks for itself. Jets and Canucks aren’t contenders IMO. Kings, Avs, and Vegas all have average or below starters. I don’t think Talbot is good… I just don’t think he’s demonstrably worse than Hill or George.

The IOC is back to making weird half measure decisions that are bad for everyone.

Either keep Russian athletes out because you don't want to allow them to participate while they're attacking in Europe, or say you don't want to punish athletes anymore and they're back in.

At this point if you have to get Russia back, fine, but don't act like you have strict rules when you don't give a shit and you're just trying to find a way to include a funder.

One thing I find very interesting about LA is their forward usage, especially 5v5. They have 8 forwards between 12:30 and 14:00. Kaliyev is just under 12 at 11:43 and lately has been more 12. Then the 4th line is 9 minutes. They basically cycle the Kopitar, PLD and Danault lines very evenly and all around normal 2nd line minutes. The top PP forwards all get ~3 minutes a game with the next set around 2. The PK guys are all around 2 (and 4th liners get 2 minutes here). This is about of even usage of a forward group as we have seen in recent years.

I expect this will pay more dividends down the line, but two main things I see here is it has allowed them to cut 2 minutes of hard minutes off Kopitar's time (less 5v5 and doesn't pull heavy matchups). It elevates Danault to '2nd' line minutes as a heavy defensive guy. PLD's effort issues get hidden. Plus they have a very balanced attack. 8 forwards with over 10 points, 5 with over 20. 8 guys with 6 or more goals (PLD has 5).

I feel that Vancouver, for this season at least, seems to be getting some pretty decent goaltending between Demko and DeSmith.

I personally feel Demko is the 3rd best goalie in the conference after Otter and Helly... I just don't think Vancouver is a legitimate contender at this point. Probably 1 more top 3 defender away at this point.

This is a really odd season a 3rd of the way through. There really isn't a stand out team this year. Bunch of teams regressed, and a bunch of teams with little to no expectations are still playing decent.

I feel like Vegas and LA really stand out in the West, the look a good level above everybody else in the West. From there it is a really mushy group. Florida and Rangers in the East (with Toronto not far behind)... that's a pretty murky one, but Lavi has been a breath of fresh air in New York. If Igor finds his stride, they might be the team to beat. New Jersey also looks great, they just dealt with their top centers being out for a stretch and they need to move on from Vanecek.

I still also think Edmonton will find their stride. That team is too good to be as bad as they were to start. If they get just adequate goaltending, they'll be dangerous. Say they make a move for Saros... they could make a large leap.

Vegas is on par with the Avs IMO. The only thing separating them is Vegas being almost three percentage points higher Sv%.

Avs have a better discrepancy in scoring chances and high danger chances on the year.
Vegas has forward depth that is a main difference.

If we are just basing it on stats though... it is basically LA running away from everyone, which Edmonton as the only team in the same realm.

I'm just not all that impressed with Vegas relative to the Avs so far. One team is loaded with depth, the other carried by high end guys despite Vegas having their fair share of high end guys.

Records are very close and the Avs arguably have better underlying numbers.
