Are people worried about the Devils? Haven't heard too much about them but I thought they were supposed to top the league

I gotta check them out. Seems a great improvement over last year's version that was released before the playoffs. The percentiles are a big help.

Another difference is that it looks like they're using the standard NHL player pictures. I miss the old pictures where he would use troll pictures for the analytics whipping horses like Ristolainen, Chiarot, and Stanley Cup champion JMFJ.

The Devils, how many over at HFAvs were drooling over them? Well, looks like their great forward core isn't good enough to overcome shitty goaltending and defence. Things aren't going to be improved by having Hamilton out (though Nemec is very promising).

DJ Smith has all season since the owner came out and said he doesn't want to cause anymore disturbances after firing the GM. Korpisalo and the offence are barely keeping him afloat.

As for the Devils losing Brunette hurts. They're shooting percentage is obviously going to rebound but Brunette really added a lethalness to their offence that Ruff doesn't know how to replicate fully. Plus they went all in on two goalies with meh track records. Vanacek is the ultimate "bends the way the wind is blowing" goalie in that he'll match how the team is playing at best. Schmid got hot while the Devils were cooking and got smoked by the Hurricanes in the playoffs. They could have really benefitted from either Nico Daws being healthy to warrant a shot at a NHL job or getting a decent goalie that can outplay the team when needed.

Yeah, if there was a time to swing the axe it was after that embarrassing loss to Florida. The new coach would’ve had a lot of practice time before the next game, and even DJ seemed to be trying to hint at Staios to just get it over with. The indecision here is just stupid.

Devils, Sens, and the Oilers all have the same big issue: Sucky goaltending. Will be interesting to see how they go about trying to fix it. Fitzgerald HAS to do something soon. Schmid/Vanecek isn’t remotely good enough.

I just don’t see Hughes as soft. Dude doesn’t hesitate to go into the dirty areas and take hits if necessary. Whether he has to better prepared for those hits is beside the point. A “soft” player is one that actively tries to avoid that kind of contact.

High ankle sprains suck. Had one in Feb and it’s still not 100% and most likely never will be.
