Always love seeing a goalie get a goal.

I still can't believe Roy never got one. If I remember correctly, there was at least one occasion with a pulled goalie and a defensive zone draw, where Roy was off to the side of the net looking for a pass and there was a dman standing in the paint to attempt to control chaos.
Yeah, he wanted it so bad. Tried a bunch of times but never managed to do it. Ironically, it's easier nowadays because he introduced the idea of pulling the goalie with 3+ minutes left as a coach. Now there's a lot more opportunities.

The Sabres have a similar problem to the 2016-17 Avs in that their veterans suck donkey balls and are holding back some talented youngsters.

Even worse, the worst one of the bunch is EJ. Jost gets a dishonorable mention as well.

You missed a great game, Canes tied it with 2.5 seconds left. Carolina needs goaltending though, nobody can save a shot and I am a huge Kochy fan (allowed 5 goals on like 16 shots today).
I don't think I'll ever truly understand goaltending. There's just too much voodoo involved.

This info is from NHL.com so I don't think tonight's stats are involved; but Geogiev currently leads the NHL with 13 wins but is sporting an .898 SV%.

This is why I don't like cumulative stats for goalies. Georgiev has given the Avs an 83% chance to win x7, a 62% chance to win x2, a 46% chance at winning x5 and a 17% chance at winning x4. The Avs are a really good team and when your goalie is giving you chances at winning in the way that Georgiev has sometimes the odds just fall in your favour.

TL;DR If you're a very good team you're going to take advantage of your goalies great, good, and coin flip games more than an average or lower team.

Have to imagine ProV gets Anaheim and George gets LA right.

Skinner has been fine for me in Fantasy. Im not sure I would lump him in there but Okposo should have been out of there 2 years ago. Guy is washed.

Garnett Hatheway got 5 and a game today for "boarding" Luke Hughes and Torts was rightfully irate.

The whistle should have blown for icing. It didn't, so Hatheway finished his check and Hughes didn't bother bracing for contact. Contact is made right as the whistle gets blown late. Hatheway gets tossed.

Incredible incompetence by the referees.

He’s an excellent scorer, I think the problem is more that they don’t have a lot of defensive forwards to pair him with, same with Olofsson. Come to think of it, do they actually have any two-way forwards?

I also think it’s also a dumb practice to name a fourth liner captain. Rarely if ever works out. The desire to re-up Okposo seems like it was more than a little driven to hand him a silver stick, in any event you’re right, they should’ve moved on from him a while ago.

And then there’s the issue of Krebs. He’s still young yet but shouldn’t he have shown more by now?

Despite all that though, I don’t think any of that is the main issue befalling the Swords.

This is an interesting perspective. Can you please elaborate on the science behind that stat? % chance to win? Thx.

Using NST's xG model I figured what the historical likelihood of a win was based on the GSAx was. It's essentially just taking the Quality Starts % idea even further where a goalie earns a Quality Start every time they start a game and post a SV% at league average SV% or higher they give their team a ~70% chance at winning. I've just taken that concept, applied it to GSAx and changed the categories.

Luke is going to be the "forgotten" brother because he's going to get himself severely injured refusing to brace himself for contact along the backboards

You mean the forgotten brother that came back to score the game winner and is on the verge of being a #1D after just turning 20? Must be a hell of a family.

I can see why people like yourself (and Torts) are upset but I'm perfectly fine with that ruling. Especially when it comes to Hathaway, who is quite possibly the dirtiest player in the entire league. He hits to injure at least once per game if not more, taking him off the ice is doing everyone, including Philadelphia, a service.

I know the puck was there but also that's an extremely dangerous spot to be throwing a hit that violent and Hathaway COMPLETELY ignores the puck in favor of laying that hit. That also may have been a bit of a reputation penalty but I don't f***ing care--that guy is dangerous and is going to end someone's career before he's done.
