So zero credit for developing them into #3s and Toews taking a jump and Makar being arguably the best player in the league and the countless scrubs turned into NHLers. People just want to focus on the negatives without acknowledging that the Avs have arguably been the best team in the league at developing defensemen since he came aboard... and before that his years in the Columbus system brought along a lot of really good defensemen as well.

Pratt is an elite coach of defensemen. The track record is as good as anybody in the league today. He gets players to be elite, he gets the best out of middle talent, and he can rounds scrubs out into NHLers.
Yeah I wasn't sold on him for years (mostly because I absolutely hated the PK until about a couple years ago, still don't love it but it's way better than it was) but you can't argue he gets results.

Avs have been an elite defensive team and I believe one of the best teams in the NHL at preventing rush chances for quite some time now. Don't think you can ask for more than that from your defensive coach.

I personally think we're going to hit an era here soon where we need to worry about teams poaching him.

News are spreading that Perry was drunk at an event (team-event) with sponsors etc... And something there happened.......

If thats indeed the reason the Hawks are acting like "dummies" again and let this "Bedarf-Mom-Nonsense" spread for nothing.

I mean, it cant be any worse than what Nuke did in Seattle.:D

On the other hand: The AVS got away with it, maybe the Hawks think they can too.. Or thought so.....

Any word from the NHLPA so far?
The funniest part about this is the fact that he was brought in for leadership and to mentor Bedard.

From an article over the summer “Perry has also been praised for his leadership abilities over the years, and this is something that he should bring over to Blackhawks. This is certainly a major perk, as the Blackhawks have Bedard and other young players who should benefit from having Perry around as a mentor.” 🤣🤣🤣

Kinda funny that a guy like that is viewed as a "mentor" to begin with. He's always been one of the meanest and dirtiest players of his generation. Foligno, sure, that guy could be viewed as a leader-type, but Perry!?

Pratt particularly has a real talent for taking fringe defensemen who barely belong in the league and turning them into servicable players. Andreas Englund is a great example. Career AHL guy, looked like an absolute disaster in preseason. But after about 20 games under Pratt he turned it around and became a decent 6/7 guy who still has an NHL job with the Kings. Jack Johnson also had a mini career revival after coming here. Everybody thought he was washed and done but here we are 2 years later and he's still a good bottom pair guy. And I know Ryan Graves was frustrating, but again he went from a guy who couldn't make the jump from the AHL for NYR to a legit NHL player who still has a job. He absolutely gets the most out of the defensemen he works with, even when it seems like there's nothing there.

You guys are crazy. Pratt has been fine. It's f***ing Bennett that needs to be tossed in a dumpster.

I think he gets a little too much flack too. The power play has consistently ranked around 7th or 8th in the league apart from this year and--for reasons I can't remember--2019-20. I also think part of the reason it doesn't get a lot better is that Nate insists on being the "Ovechkin" of the top unit, and really he's much better moving around the ice and choosing different spots to shoot from. Near as I can tell, Draisaitl obviously has a set position on the Oilers' power play, but McDavid doesn't.

As for the penalty kill, that's probably another conversation for another day. IMO that isn't just a Bennett or Pratt issue, that's a Bednar issue.

I guess Perry and the PA won't be grieving the termination. Kinda tells you something about the seriousness of the incident, which we may or may not be learning about in the future.

He's probably done with the NHL. At 38 he's too old to enter a mental health/alcohol program and come back.

MacK isn't some prima donna. He'll play where and how the coaches tell him to. It's a system issue that's being held together with a f*** ton of talent.

I won't lie, if or when they make Conor McGahey the TV guy I'll be pretty happy. Don't know if they still switch him and Moser on occasion but they should do that again. Moser IMO is actually a pretty good radio host. Kinda wish he would go back to that.

I definitely miss Rycroft in the studio, especially his breakdowns and the fact that he didn't spare the rod when the team was playing poorly. I think he's fine as the color commentator but yeah, McNab was effing fantastic in that role, far better than I even realized.
I agree with all of this except McGahey makes my skin crawl for some reason. I haven’t seen a whole lot of him though.

Reminds me of a story I was told about legendary goalie Gary "The Suitcase" Smith, called that because he was traded so many times. I guess when he was with the Canucks the team had a major sponsor in Alpo dog food and the owner of the company had the team over for dinner. Smith proceeded to get drunk and started talking about the owner's family, zeroing in on the daughter and saying something to the effect of "Yeah I can see the resemblance...on the can!" Needless to say the host of that night's festivities was not pleased. Don't know if Gary suited up that many more times for Vancouver after that but I'm guessing he didn't.

I wonder what this does to his HHOF aspirations. Because I think he has a good case.
Nearly 1,200 NHL games, Stanley Cup champion in 2007, Hart winner in 2011, and almost 1,000 career points.

He's in easily.

He has 892 points, that's not almost 1000.
