Sigh. Moving goalposts. Again.

I also have respect for their athletic abilities and handling of themselves as public figures. However, I am not foolish enough to think that in a split second in front of a coach the stature of Babcock that I would expect an 18/19 year old to make the complex assessment of their rights in that situation, the ins and outs of their rights under the CBA, and how that pertains to the interaction they are having at the time.

This is frankly an absurd expectation to have of anybody, let alone basically a kid just trying to make a good impression.
Are you trying to say that not one single young man would stick up for himself, sure sounds like you are making that assumption and maybe this poster is making the exact opposite assumption.
I do believe most kids would not just hand over their phone, hiding something or not. At least not without some restrictions.

No, not saying that.

Believe whatever you want.

These are your replies to what was a reasonable post.

Now your response to another poster. "Believe whatever you want"

All this on a "discussion" board.

The poster is simply flaming away. Negligible response so just dismissive in reply.

I have never listened to Spittin Chiclets and likely never will again but I spent some time hearing what they had to say on this Babcock topic today. Anyone defending Babcock at this point is either being willingly obtuse just to be argumentative or lives in a Don Cherry infused fantasy land.

I'm guessing you are under 25.
Don Cherry was a straight shooter, sometimes a little to opinionated but what he had to say was on a lot of peoples minds

It’s worth noting that three of the loudest voices on this topic are guys who have been on this board a long time and are all at least in their forties (if not older). All are taking the stance that asking to see a person’s phone constitutes abuse. I disagree with their thoughts on this topic, but it bears pointing out that age does not always pigeonhole people. I doubt that will occur to the ‘OK boomer’ crowd, or silence their ageist comments, but it has been enlightening for me.

Not even close to under 25. Hell, I've had an account here on HF Boards for 16 years already. Get your radar fixed.

Don't be offend, some people take it as a compliment being mistaken for a younger person.
But then again it is all in how it is interpreted, just like this situation.

From what i remember Don Cherry was a among other things a xenophobe - I kinda lost track if he changed over the years, but his earlier stuff was not "straight shootin" - he disliked Euros and disparaged them constantly

Nope. He disliked soft hockey, which is an European hockey trait

this is a bad path to go down--I am 52 and even in the 80's Cherry was saying shit that I had a problem with.

But when he called former players who he once pumped up as wimps and cowards for blaming the style of hockey they played on their off ice and post career problems--he needed to go.

Remember one of his LAST coaches corner?

He is a reminder of something he said and how it WAS viewed. "You people" that was a problem

Here's an ESPN 30 for 30 Doc to watch for. Lots of interesting themes being explored with the Vancity Meltdown of 2011. Will be playing at upcoming Calgary and Vancouver Film Festivals, not sure when the television release is:

Wasnt there for the 2011 riots but I was in Vancouver for the 1994 riots. What ended the riots in 94? They announced they were shutting down down the skytrain and all of a sudden all trains to surrey were full. Not saying it was just surrey people causing problems. But they have a rep for a reason

I was there during the height of the riots, doing my girlfriend in the middle of the street. What a riot!

Remember how there was a good portion of fans on here that wanted Babcock as coach when Tippett got canned? Not sure where those guys are now. Bringing that geezer in here would of been disasterous.
