I would be shocked if McDavid re-signs with Edmonton. Edmonton basically have the last two years of his contract as a window (as they've destroyed any cap flexibility before then) to win the Cup.

So many of the contracts they've handed out have been absolute head scratchers. That Nurse contract is one of the worst in the NHL.

Yeah the standings are not everything. We are bottom dwellers for now and a bit in the future but it'd be much more depressing to be an Oilers fan now, lol. Time is ticking on McDavid jackpot

Good on him coming out and admitting that (IF it happens) straight up.

If he pans out I bet a lot of managers would scratch their heads as well that passe don him in waivers. Since he's not over 6'0 probably not Verbeek tho :laugh:


It's only 7 games tho, Looks promising, good on Eeli, I hope he succeeds, but also - needs more time to see how it goes. Often there is a lot of adrenaline to start the new stint. That being said, he played 17+ mins in the last game vs Boston, looks promising.

it appears that Lafreniere has never scored a PPG, i know fans were upset with the amount of PP time he gets, but still that's unbelievable.

wonder if he'd benefit from a change in scenery

still too early to call him a bust but he's sure trending towards that direction

Dailyfaceoff lists J.T. Compher as their 2C, but Newhook is on the 2nd line as a wing. To your point, Newhook doesn't seem to have met expecations on the scoresheet so far this year.
