Lol you really think an entire team being accused of assault totally anonymous before a big playoff game is the same as a player with questionable life choices before the season even starts. Hey more power to you good luck with that thinking. But yeah sure to answer your question if an entire team is out of the blue is accused of assault then by all means delay the game while it’s investigated. I dunno about you guys but I would feel weird rooting for a team in this case that was accused of assault and ended up being true. But hey that’s just me
I think you are sticking with "the entire team before playoffs" thing, as a way not to get to what is really being said. You know what is being said.

If that exact letter came out right before the playoffs but was about Mcdavid, still anonymous, still randomly posted on twitter from a burner, would you say suspend?

Kind of ironic, as they're one of the more goalie friendly teams/systems in the league these last few years.

MAF and Gustavsson were both brutal last night and there was a softy of the night in there from Fleury. Kings announcers were a bit flabbergasted by it.

Others have understood the issue and my purposely silt example used to illustrate the problems with your process. You are just making distinctions without a difference at this point. Now you are also moving the goalposts. I don’t understand your point at the end. How can a team be accused of rape? I don’t think you are explaining that well but by your own logic as I understand it you shouldn’t be rooting for thr Devils since McLeod is allowed to play for the team.

It’s not complicated and the slippery slope alluded to above is just a method of testing thr logic. You were spot on with how I should have rolled it out. The funny thing is rather than digging in and looking silly all thr poster had to do was construct a stop to avoid going down thr slippery slope. Maybe suspend a player if something is produced that can be investigated very quickly on a preliminary basis. A tweet from a verified source that names specific names beyond the alleged perpetrator for instance. You speak with the tweeter and other people and see if it warrants further investigation. That can be done in a few days or less. If the tweet is a hoax turn it over to the criminal authorities. Just something that takes the suspension out of thr hands of thr general public.

Yeah I would just like real world where people are suspended all the time pending an investigation. Delay the start of the series a day or so to investigate shouldn’t be hard or take long. I mean on the flip side he’s accused and plays and lights it up then turns out it’s all true aren’t you going to feel a little weird rooting for him?

Delay the series? Now you’re getting outside of reality, playoff series are on strict TV schedules, and fans who pay big money for playoff tickets aren’t gonna want games moved based off rumors. It takes longer than a day or three to have a real investigation anyway.

asked a question and answered it. investigate it but if the person isn't reachable then you can't really investigate it further so it shouldn't take long. you didn't answer mine.

Yea, but your question is based off the answer of "yup, treat every investigation the way this one was."

The person wasn't reachable, Ian Cole was still suspended, so keeping in line with the extreme example, the entire series would be suspended, possibly canceled if they couldn't figure out an answer quick enough to reschedule. Just to be clear, is that what your answer was?

And to jump in and answer your question, of course, after the fact I would "feel a little weird" rooting for them if it came out they did something horrible. But how many celebrities/musicians/sports stars did you root for or follow that turned out to be horrible? You have no control over it.

I'm not sure how you can leap over the absurdity of taking action over something with no evidence of being true, based on the fact you might feel weird about rooting for them after the fact.

all i did was answer a question you don't like it oh well dont know what to tell ya. i dont know why a series would have to be suspended or a player to miss an entire series if they can speed up an investigation and learn from this one all the better.

you rooted for the person knowing there is an accusation its different not knowing until afterwards. so you do have some control over it.

but to each their own everyone can think and do what they feel and like. sorry but thats just me i guess lol

The Ducks are f***ing horrid, Gibson's made like 3-4 good saves and they're still down 2-0. No f***ing excuses tomorrow.

Alex Edler wasn't wearing a helmet during warmups and got hit by an errant puck. He was scratched and the Kings are using five RHD which is a bit of an oddity.

I always thought Edler was the same age of Bieksa, Made me wonder how he was still in the league.

I always thought Edler was the same age of Bieksa, Made me wonder how he was still in the league.

Definitely an "elder" statesmen by today's standards. I did enjoy the draft story behind Edler. Apparently he caught the eye of legendary Detroit Swedish scout Hakan Andersson. Edler wasn't a regular on his club, so Andersson called up the team's GM to make sure he was playing. I think it was like a 5-6 hour drive to see Edler play, so Andersson didn't want to waste his time for nothing. But the GM then told some other scouts that Detroit was showing interest.

So going into the draft, Detroit earmarked pick #97 to take Edler. Vancouver traded a future 3rd rounder to get #91 to draft him instead. Detroit did get defaulted into Johan Franzen, so they did alright.

Also reminded me how Ken Holland (might have been Jim Nill) still being bitter at us. At the 2008 Draft, one of them was mic'd up and they were picking #30. Lou traded down a couple times from #21 to #23 then #24. One of the Detroit guys blurted out "they better not be taking our guy, remember when they took Souray from us?"

Out of curiosity I looked up the 1994 draft. Detroit had pick #75. Lou traded up from #77 to #71 to take Souray. Detroit took some other WHL D who didn't make it. 14 years later and they were still annoyed about it.

I'm amazed we didn't do it the year Hynes got off to an 0-6 start with the Winnipeg meltdown leading it off...turns out we got housed in the next two after that though.
I don’t think we had many games with a multi goal lead to blow that’s how bad we were.

What if Bruce doesn't make it back to Vancouver for another year of ''Bruce! There it is!''?

We definitely were up 4-0 (weren't we? Or was it 3-0?) on opening night.

I clearly remember us being up a couple goals to the Panthers too, but that was game 5 I think?

I think that was the last game we lost before getting our first win. I think Fitz was sent down to the bench the next game to help make sure no one pulled the plug on the machines that were keeping Hynes coaching tenure alive.

After listening to a general NHL podcast it seems few other teams have issues besides the Devils. Like the Wild and CBJ.

Found it funny that the podcast guy told NJ, CBJ and the Wild to take the ping pong table out of the practice facilities. Suppose it was a Dolphins reference of sorts

4-0 late in the second period...that one is seared into my brain as the worst regular season loss I've ever been at. Yeah the Panther game you're thinking of was Game 6, we were actually up 4-1 then too lol. We also blew three one-goal leads to the Oilers a couple games earlier.

So we actually went winless in our first 6 that year? And Hynes somehow still survived? No wonder Shero got the boot soon after.
