So we actually went winless in our first 6 that year? And Hynes somehow still survived? No wonder Shero got the boot soon after.
I remembered that it was a six-gamer and the lame-ass lie Shero told about how Fitz coming down to the bench was actually Hynes' idea

Hm maybe it was Hynes himself peddling that lie lol, or maybe he did ask for Fitz as a stay of execution before being offed :P

The Lightning game a few years back that we ended up losing 7-6 in overtime was f***in brutal too
I remember this game because I've cited it a lot recently as when the team officially gave up on Cory Schneider and realized how much of a liability he had become. He started one more game after this before being waived. He eventually was recalled two different times later in the season, but this was pretty much the end for him.

The end really kind of came in that Panthers game that we had mentioned a few posts back, but after Blackwood had a couple strong games and wins right after that, he had that game against Arizona at home, which was one of his worst games of that season and a carbon copy of the Arizona home game last season. We outshot them like 30-something to 20 and he allowed 4 goals. Both those games actually. So Cory got yet another crack in that Tampa game.

This game is also famous for Taylor Hall's post game whining about how hard it is to have to play against the fans, on top of the other team on the ice, because fans were booing the team that night.

I know there's been no shortage of complains about it all over the main boards and this board, but the digital ads just keep getting weirder and weirder.

Between seeing advertisements for the visiting team (when you have their feed on) on the boards of the other team's building and then the moving car along the boards.

It's just weird at this point.

And then on some of the broadcasts (like ours) in between ads the boards appear bare, and it's a real throwback to the 70's and 80's when there were no ads on the boards and it was just plain white.

Cited it? I think you mean to say cried a lot once you realized Cory was finished as a Devil. It’s ok. You are among friends and we all know that you carried a torch for him at the end.

4-0 late in the second period...that one is seared into my brain as the worst regular season loss I've ever been at. Yeah the Panther game you're thinking of was Game 6, we were actually up 4-1 then too lol. We also blew three one-goal leads to the Oilers a couple games earlier.

Hockey reference makes for depressing reading.

We haven't had a 4 game win streak since the start of 18/19 season.

Ruff has had MULTIPLE 5+ losing streaks in the time since.

Pain.

Wild 20 GA in 3 games…we’d have to give up 10 tomorrow to hit that number, yikes. Some rough starts across the league. Wild, Canucks, Columbus, Leafs.
Gustavsson is one of the worst goalies I've seen this year. He makes Cam Talbot look like a really good, if not elite goalie.

He didn't come up too poorly in my goals stoppable percentage last year. He was actually a clear anomaly with a weak save percentage but fared alright on mine. I call that the Korpisalo. 5 of his 9 goals allowed to this point are not good. Last night was maybe the first softy of the year candidate.

He might be worse than the last Gustavsson. The one that played for the Leafs, Wings and Oilers.

I’m unsure if that means the cap starts increasing after this season or after next season.

I’m guessing the larger increase will be after next season.

Lot of talk here and elsewhere that goal scoring would come down this season, but so far it's even higher than last year.

I liked what we saw from A.J. Greer in the small stints he had here, but damn I would never imagine he could hit 5 points in the first 4 games on a new team. Jesus.

He had a wrecking ball style of play here with shades of looking like he could do some damage. That time in Utica last year must have really done him some good.

It's early and Boston got off to a solid start, averaging over 5 goals per game so far. I mean he's got 3 goals on 9 shots. I'll go out on a limb and suggest that his shooting percentage drops over time. Still, I'm happy for him. If he can carve out a legit NHL career that's a great story.

As an aside, Boston has a lot of question marks on their hands for next season. I expect they will sign Pasta but they could really be a very different team next season if Bergeron and Krejci both retire and they have a ton of secondary guys that will need new deals, Zacha among them.

Yeah he most likely can't sustain that, but it's definitely eye catching to see his name up there.

I didn't realize Boston hired Montgomery, somehow that missed my news plate over the summer. I knew they got rid of Cassidy, but, I thought Montgomery had a kinda a bad rep in Dallas so i'm surprised (maybe i'm mistaken about that rep).

Greer was the most dominant player on Utica in the games I saw and he looked like a guy ready for a real shot in the NHL.

He was also a UFA and he got a 2 year one way deal on team that offered him more opportunity as a winger.

Zetterlund is very similar, 3 year younger, player and the forward core is too crowded for him even after Johnsson was sent down. I don’t see why Greer signs here.

Drinking problem got him canned I believe. I'm guessing he's gone through the process if he's a coach again.
