ya i just cant get into it like i do devils hockey. even when canada wins i feels nothing
Yeah, I'm kind of over it.

It used to be cool when they'd have it more than once every 8-12 years, but now they rarely have it anymore. I think they used to have one every few years (didn't they? Kind of like the world cup of soccer? Was it every 4 years at one time?) but they definitely didn't have any in between 1996 and 2004 and then the 2004 one was the last until the 2016 one. And now we're gonna go at least 8.5 years in between them again.

They're just too much of a novelty at this point. And I know a lot of people like that type of thing, since it's so isolated that they have it and some people find it more meaningful that they're so infrequent, but they're just way too infrequent at this point.

And they seem to just have them whenever they want. Like just whenever they feel like it. I thought they were having this one in 2024 because players couldn't go to the 2022 olympics, but now they've pushed it back yet another year and we'll have the olympics in 2026.

I don't even like soccer and I think you're right.

I did enjoy the 96 world cup of hockey when it happened. The 04 one was okay. It also wound up being really the last NHL hockey we'd see for another year and the only NHL hockey we'd see that entire season. I do remember a lot more prominent players participating in the 05 world championships though. Including Martin Brodeur and many others who didn't play any kind of pro hockey for a year.

it's weird....i rarely watch soccer unless its the WC or the euro cup. i played 35 years but never did much watching....my brother (who also played with me for that many years) and his son do love the EPL though. once in a while ill catch a match but i dont go out of my way

He'll get in.

Alfredsson is just getting in this year and has been retired 2 years longer than Elias has.

I'm now more confident than ever that he'll get in. It just might take a little while longer of waiting. Even the Sedin's didn't get in during their first year of eligibility. I think this is their third year. Elias could have gone in one year before them.
Correction:

This is actually the second year Sedin's have been eligible, not their third year.

For some reason I thought 2017 was their last year in the NHL, but it was actually 2018.

I just noticed Arizona is on a 14 game road trip.
Started Nov 5th.
Ends Dec 7th.

There has to be a reason for this, right?

I think they renovating the arena to be more NHLish.

Plus the college team gets priority for scheduling.

Modern day Tom Kurvers trade?

Kurvers trade was before my time, so it's a fun retroactive thing to look up. I spotted this Islanders 4-3 win over Toronto that season. If that result was flipped, the Islanders pick #3 instead. Randy Wood with a pair of goals and Tom Fitzgerald had one as well for New York.
