Why would the Bruins have signed this guy? Crazy. Apparently, he may not even get to play in the AHL.

Just a bizarre move by the Bruins front office. I'd think there are some unpleasant meetings coming up over there.

Unfortunately they probably looked at it like a free 2nd round pick in exchange for however long the initial backlash would be. Boston's forked over a decent amount of picks at the deadline in recent years, so it was a calculated risk to add to their prospect pool.

I certainly don't envy being their PR people right now.

I know Bettman isn’t always the most popular figure, but i’ll gain a tremendous amount of respect for him if the NHL does the right thing here and blacklists Miller from ever playing a game in this league.

He is a vile human being, anyone capable of that kind of prolonged systemic abuse does not belong anywhere near professional sports.

His total lack of contrition and trying to frame it as a single ‘mistake’ instead of a pattern of behaviour that spanned multiple years tells you all you need to know.

Pathetic by the Bruins organization too, anyone involved in that decision should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. At least Bettman seems to have his head screwed on straight.

It sounds like his parents are some real pieces of work as well, the s*** apple doesn’t fall far from the s*** tree.

Yeah I didn't see Gary getting involved either...maybe this was like some are theorizing on the Bruins board Jacobs asking Bettman to get him out of a PR nightmare his underlings foisted on him (not sure how much I buy that, but that is a theory over there).

How good of a prospect is Miller supposed to be? While I would like to think any player who did what he did would not be signed by anybody, I can at least understand it if he was supposed to be really good. Teams are willing to overlook dirtbag human beings because of talent all the time.

I think he was supposed to be a mid 1st rounder, if I remember correctly

For me, playing professional sports is a privilege, not a right. You get paid a ton of money to play a literal game for a living then there should be a code of conduct for your past, current and future actions.

This wasn't just kids bullying kids that happens in normal schools. This was beyond over the top and disgusting. I don't know what kind of schools everyone here went to but the ones I went to people never f***ed around with the kids in special education because even the vast majority of kids have empathy for those with special needs.

This guy ain't worth the headache to have on anyone's team, if he actually ever makes it to the NHL he's going to get booed around the league and constantly have a negative spotlight on him and his team. Why invite this mess when you don't need too.

Also good lord this douche bag has one of the most punchable faces I've ever seen.
Considering this organization has The Biggest Piece of S--t playing on it for many years in Brad Marchand, I'm not at all surprised that they decided to add another piece of s--t to the team.

EDIT : But thanks to Bettman, it's all a moot point and it makes the Bruins organization look like bigger pieces of sh*t than Brad himself and that's saying something.

They should be docked draft picks on pure stupidity alone.

One of the few times I've ever cheered Bettman on.

Good on him for putting his foot down and recognizing the level of damage this could do to the league.

Unfortunately, it will only minimize the damage. Sweeney has already screwed the pooch on this one and no matter what Bettman does, the general public will see it as reactionary and not proactive. If Bettman wants to stop shit like this from happening, there should be either a not so small monetary penalty or loss of a draft pick.

Couldn't agree more. I'd also consider a huge monetary penalty. Otherwise it's just a slap on the wrist.

To be fair Brad might play on an extreme edge on the ice but by all accounts he's great off the ice with fans and the community in Boston.

I agree about the league though cause the league itself should ban a jack ass like this. He doesn't deserve to take a roster spot from anyone on any professional roster.

I would like, for ONCE, for some OTHER team other than the Devils to be deemed as "violating the spirit of the CBA, brah" and lose their draft picks.

I want the Bruins to be punished. Severely.

To my knowledge this doesn't violate anything though other than being scummy so while Boston shouldn't have signed him, to me, the league should have never let him be allowed to be signed by anyone.
