We really do live rent free in other fans heads. Imagine if the Leafs ever actually win a cup? Anarchy. Lol.

Yeah looks like Jackson has a bit of his pa in him. When he's got the puck he's not looking to pass,, shooting from everywhere.
NASCAR was a beauty on many a dark night at the ACC.
He would do his 3 laps around the offensive zone, fire a wrist shot into the goalies chest then head for a line change. He would do that many times a night.

What an WJC tournament this has been so far.,

Some excellent entertaining hockey and some exciting young prospects on their way to the NHL.

I havent watched wjc in a while...but am I wrong to say this team isn't strong as other ones i have seen? Canada's I mean. Bedard is dynamic and exception aside...nothing wows me as much as it in previous WJC I've watched.
Yeah, TSN comparing it to the 2005 team was cringey as all get out. The Roy-Stankoven-Bedard line, Milic in net and the powerplay have been carrying the team. The defense has been horrendous, with Hinds being basically the only defenseman who can actually defend. Scoring depth is largely absent and this will hopefully be Dennis Williams’ first and last time coaching team Canada.

Canada reminded me of the 2013/2014 era Leafs last night. Opportunistic run and gun scoring from their top players while being carried by good goaltending. They won 6-2 but it was hardly a convincing performance. The way Czechia is playing I think they'll be in tough unless Milic has another outstanding game.

Their style of play is kind of the antithesis of what would typically be considered 'Canadian hockey'. Maybe that’s just hockey shifting away from Sutter-style hockey, but it’s frustrating to watch them fail at things we used to excel at.

Gotta remember Canada lost the last one out without their #1 goalie while getting 9 less PP minutes and still badly outshot/chanced the Czechs.

The US was always going to be the problem for this team and I don't think Canada will be as troubled with Czechia.

If Canadian goaltending doesn't give up any softies and the refs dont ruin the game (with a ton of ticky tack penalties), Canada will win IMO.

It seems to me that with each passing year, more sons of former players are following in their fathers' footsteps.

Don't recall such a heavy stream of bloodline players from 25 years ago.
It's obvious that the crazy money to be earned is fueling the sons to take up their father's game.

It's ludicrous that a player can make in one game what it takes the average Canadian and entire year to obtain.

When the cost of 2 tickets to a single NHL game would pay for a months worth of groceries, I can assure you that I won't be going to a game anytime soon!!!

Its funny that you dont see nearly as many bloodlines throughout other sports. Really just puts home the point of how inaccessible hockey is compared to other sports. You have a close relative that played professional hockey? Well they can likely fund you financially and give you training that your average joe would never be able to receive. Not to mention all the nepotism that is already established throughout hockey orgs/leagues.

Not surprising! Young kids get interest in whatever their parents are doing as toddlers. And since they can start skating around the same age and actually get into the game, that only adds more interest.

Then factor into the fact that these NHLers have all resources (financial, training) and hockey connections, it it gives these kids an opportunity right out of the gate to be successful.

I'm really curious to see the route of my buddy's kid (who is around 2). My buddy's brother is a known NHL player and he played in the WHL himself. But his son absolutely adores his uncle and loves hockey. So it will be interesting to see if he gets into high level hockey.

Legit shocked Tampa lost last night, I know it was a back to back for them but I just expect them to win every game they're trailing in lol.

Brian Elliot also played both games B2B. TB have played 37 games and Vasilevskiy dressed for 26 of them.

At this point, it probably is a race between the Leafs and Bolts for who gets home-ice game 7 but the Sabres are starting to surge a little bit (7-2-1 in their last 10).

Vasi played 63 games last year and he might have to go 50-55 this year. I hope it starts to wear him down, especially since he's played almost an extra season's worth of playoff games in the past three years.

Yeah, it's definitely a sport for people who are pretty well off. I grew up in a relatively poor, rural community. My buddies and I had cheap wooden hockey sticks, I think one guy had a pair of skates, and there weren't enough kids to ice two teams. We'd clear off some ice, usually fall all over the place, and that was as close as any of us could come to playing hockey as an "organized sport." Our school had no trouble putting a basketball team together though because a cheap pair of sneakers was all you really needed.

Moving from there to an actual city with a more affluent population, it blows me away how involved these kids are in multiple sports and afterschool programs, even at such an early age. It can't be cheap. Fun for us growing up was throwing rocks at each other and going to the swimming hole.

I don't know about that. Just thinking of the Jays alone, they have Guerrero, Bichette, Biggio, and Varsho. Not sure if there is more or not, but those are the 4 off the top of my head.

NFL is now full of second generation kids as well. Even more will arrive in the next couple of drafts with a bunch still in college
