Its already is awful. GM's love their big Canadian kids. Wonder if anything would have changed if the season didnt end suddenly. But Byfield has not really improved his game at all since being drafted. The same issues that he had pre draft are still there today.

Another note from that draft, its hilarious how much of a better player Mercer looks than Laf. Same draft, same league, Laf was racking up the points in junior (Mercer did quite well too) but they dont even look on the same league right now in the NHL 3 years later.

Despite laf playing an extra year in the NHL, Mercer has surpassed his NHL career totals.
Laf is starting to break out a bit now

Up to a 41 pt pace this year. He was at around 25 or 30 a good 29 games ago so hes starting to produce

I still see Laf being a 60 pt player which while gery disapointing for the level of prospect that he was is still resecptable

The rangers cant develop high deaft picks into star players

I get 3 point night and all, but if you actually watch the assists, they aren't exactly highlight reel either.
First one he pinches in to the winger position, throws the puck to the front of the net, and it bounces around and gets knocked in with a stick mid-air.
Second one is a basic pass to Ovechkin on the PP, and they score on the rebound.
Third one was him leaving the puck for a player at the blueline, and the player and Ovechkin pass back and forth and score.

You mean like any player who can get 3 assists in a game.

Heck, even a goaltender can get an assist after making a stop.

But Sandin is a 22 year old NHL defender who has only played 146 NHL games.

He is no better or worse since being traded.

Yeah. Sometimes a player does a lot and doesn't get rewarded, and sometimes a player does little and gets rewarded with some points in a blowout. We shouldn't panic over a 1 game sample of Sandin experiencing the latter. Let's wait and see how things play out, and also recognize why he was traded.

Yeah laf is looking like he will never be a line drive in the NHL. I still take mercer everyday of the week over him. Mercer is like a Hyman but with much better offensive tools (puck handling, better overall skating, smarts etc). He can play anywhere in your lineup, it doesn't matter if he's with grinders or all stars, he can fit into his role. Really underrated player that is just starting to break out.

Sucks what happened Amirov, but the leafs could desperate use someone like mercer right now.

Byfield better start doing more soon or picking him over Stutzle is going to look quite bad.

Byfield 35gp 2 goals, 13 assists
Stutzle 58gp 31 goals, 35 assists
My GF loves the Sens.
He’s a pretty dynamic, creative player who can fly.
Bright future team.

I know TB can come back, heck any teams can but having 5 shots with 28mins left to play and down 3-0, that’s going to be tough

Imagine losing to Buffalo or Ottawa in the first round? New levels of never before seen embarrassment and mockery.
I won’t even joke about stuff like that. Lol

The Canes are a sick team.

Win so many little races all over the ice, win tons of 1v1 battles, always knocking pucks down making it hard to advance the puck.

They play a style very condusive to playoff hockey but I'm not sure they have the gamebreakers to win a cup.

They do things by committee, they are like Bruins except they don’t have Bergy and Marchand.

Getting out shot to Carolina 22-5 shows the teams not happy with Cooper benching the stars

I would stop watching hockey if we got knocked out by Ottawa
