While I have no desire defending said player, what do you mean by "I didnt think it was possible to be that bad"?. You've just posted some pleb's Corsi and xGF%. Watch a game.

I'm pretty sure if I turned on the game and saw Tampa getting filled in whenever he was on the ice, I would have the same opinion.

I'll drop the the other stats and just keep the 10-0 shot advantage for the other team in 7 min played then (since you appear to consider those real stats and not the 16-0 shot attempts which is going to of course lead to a 0% chance at goals)

I just havnt seen that kind of statline while I've been browsing them in memory is all, especially because other teammates wernt nearly as bad meaning he was dragging down anyone he played with.

Some stats tell you that you didn't even need to watch and player was ass in the game. This was one of those times.

One thing is for sure, JBB/Cooper could not be much more different from Dubas/Keefe in terms of philosophy. I couldn't ever see Keefe bench Matthews/Marner/Nylander like that

This market doesn’t allow for that. The same people who are begging for that response by a coach are the same ones that will use that as ammunition to contribute to whine and complain about them.

I bet the eye test matches…. A 0 xGF%, even if you don’t understand or care to understand what it means, would be very obvious to the eye test.

Literally means not a single attempt at the oppositions net was made while he was on the ice. Nevermind a shot, literally not even an attempt. All while being destroyed defensively.

There’s some grey areas when it comes to these stats, something that extreme can’t pass the eye test.

Tampa is stumbling right now. Three wins in their last ten. It will be interesting to see how they respond to this and if they rebound to return to their high level of play. With a 11 point lead on Buffalo, they’ve all but locked up their spot in the playoffs, but I wouldn’t be upset if they came unglued.
Or TB is playing a long game and try to get to WC 1. Which won’t surprise me one bit if they continue to drop a few more games. But it is going to be hard for Sabres or Sens to catch them.

Pretty freaking unbelievable when you consider the Leafs are having a pretty good year and sitting 4th overall, yet we are now 19 points behind the Bruins. Crazy.

It's the premise of someone posting numbers or a graph solely to prove a point. The absolute demise of our sport. I've never once seen it in any other sport. People love to argue the fact is SUPPORTS blah blah blah, but 50% of people forgo the blah blah blah part.

I hope they're done, but part of me wonders if they just don't care for the next 20 games. These guys have made 3 straight finals and already know their playoff opponent, might be going through the motions. I won't count them out until they actually lose

But man, would it ever be nice if they're done and we destroy them in 5 or something

They obviously get the benefit of the doubt but when I watch their games, even their games against us(including the one they won in OT) there’s definitely a step taken back.

They’ve had a ton of roster turnover if you think about it.

It still means nothing when we play them but we should be slight favourites In the series.

What is Cooper doing?

Tampa has lost 7 of 9 now down the stretch, had a brutal trade deadline, have one of the toughest schedules in the NHL the rest of the way and Cooper benches the only guys who have shown up during that stretch after a couple of bad periods?

Over those 9 games:

Point: 13 points
Kucherov: 10 points
Stamkos: 7 points

Those 3 point totals have led the team over that stretch.

I could understand if the losing skid was on them. Watch Vasy steal tomorrow's game for them and then Cooper will get the "credit".

The biggest area they have noticeably gotten weaker is on defense. Hedman just isn't the same player he was 2 years ago this year and the absence of McDonagh is very noticeable. They are a bad defensive team covered up by a top goalie in the league.

This certainly doesn’t suggest they’re trying to get to WC1.

Correct outlook.

It’s always said that expected stats work best in aggregate and over a long term sample size.

This poster uses this very flawed stat in one game.

Basically the textbook mis-use of the stat.

Even the creators of the stat say as much yet here we are.

We see this time and time again on this forum but unfortunately it takes posters correcting stat misuse like this for them to understand that stats without eyes don’t amount to anything.

The same poster just tried to spin Vasilevsky’s last three years as bad when he won two Cups and a Finals appearance…

Insane propoganda clearly designed to deceive.

Sounds like last year's Rangers team.

Congrats Mason Marchment on your first goal in 28 games.

Yeah fair enough. I would also say that as someone who's coached some of these guys for 10 years, Cooper probably needs more drastic measures to get through to these guys than Keefe would. And yeah, when the Leafs stars have bad games it typically looks like they're a non-factor rather than actively bad
I can't remember, have the Leafs ever lost 7 of 9 under Keefe?

Stats are literally at the core of baseball and have been for decades.

So you’re just flat out wrong

People still arguing over analytics in sports? lol.

If you only knew the analytics at the disposal of teams in every organization, in every sport. This isn't something that just came up in the last 2-3 years, it's been like this for 20+ years, and the teams that got ahead of it benefited greatly because of it(Devils, Wings, Spurs, Rays, Red Sox, Patriots etc).

The problem is, the average sports fans is a simple person. They don't like the game complicated too much for them, and that's fair. But to completely discredit something because you don't understand something is crazy.

People keep trying to say that it's "nerds doing this in our game" lol, sports are highly competitive and highly lucrative, teams are going to try to get as many STRAGETIST on their side to win.
