Wow. Just saw Tampa lost again. They play Carolina tomorrow too.

Leafs need to start banking points here.

I'm thinking Buffalo has a real shot at the playoffs.

It'd be crazy to see Buffalo and Ottawa make it and Pitts and Islanders drop out. Possible.

Will be an interesting race for sure...

wow Buffalo and Ottawa have 4 games in hand on the Isles, I love this time of the year!

Ottawa and Sabres have been playing some really good hockey lately. Ottawa also added Chychrun that would help them.

I think Isles are gonna slide out of the playoffs spot. For the wildcard it would probably be between

Pens, Sens, Sabres

f***ing boston
Basically they don't lose. Keep waiting for a bit of a losing streak... but nope. A lot of close games but they just know how to close out.
Rangers fans already calling Kane lazy.

Minus 4 in his debut.
Wow ... ouch.

Honestly still love getting ROR over him. Kane can still light it up but something about the guy... I just don't like his attitude.

I think ROR is a way better leader. He'll be big come playoffs. Not as talented but he doesn't quit.

IMO Boston knows how to play with the Lead; especially in the 3rd period. The way they are playing now it looks like thats their natural game so they won't have to change much during playoffs. The gap control, man above the puck, etc... will just come naturally to them they won't have to think much.

I wish we could get some good habits as part of a natural game play that would play dividends in the playoffs ;)

Only way we beat them if we go up against them I figure is unreal goaltending... and Matthews, or one of the big 4 just goes on a crazy heater.

Both of those could happen.

First thing is Tampa though. That won't be an easy series. I just imagine if they can get by round 1... you never know.

Boston it's pretty much automatic as you say. They just get it and they don't f*** around. No fancy shit... they just drive the net and play really good team D.

Ullmark though... jeez... crazy season he is having too.

One thing is for sure, JBB/Cooper could not be much more different from Dubas/Keefe in terms of philosophy. I couldn't ever see Keefe bench Matthews/Marner/Nylander like that

Tampa is stumbling right now. Three wins in their last ten. It will be interesting to see how they respond to this and if they rebound to return to their high level of play. With a 11 point lead on Buffalo, they’ve all but locked up their spot in the playoffs, but I wouldn’t be upset if they came unglued.

They are like 32-0-3 when scoring first; have lost 8 games in regulation, 2 at home.

The odds Murray/Sammy win u a round over Vasi, Ullmark, and Sesterkin are low. If we go deep it will be on the backs of Matty, Mitch and Willie IMO.

Babcock tried to do that and he was run out of town

Say what you want about Cooper but gotta give him respect for benching his big three in the 3rd period. Keefe would only bench Willie as a lesson for the others.

Cooper does a takest backsy tomorrow in the media ;)

No No No He will go in the offseason to each of their houses to apologize and have a chat with them

thats precisely it. Boston limits their fancy bullshit and don't f*** around. these are good habits to build IMO especially for the playoffs. I haven't seen one team win with 'fancy bullshit' in the playoffs ever.

Boston will be tough to beat even if Leafs get by Tampa. Even if Ullmark craps the bed; IMO our goaltending is still a hailmary. We have an injury prone goalie (murray) and then question marks (Sammy, Woll).

Our offense has to deliver in the playoffs. I think defensively we have not been bad including contrary to popular opinion around here blaming goalies. Our forwards have to pot goals - no other ways around it.

Personally i'd run matthews-tavares-ROR on three different lines and create match up problems for opposition. Whichever two lines of the three is having a better game they get more ice-time. period! If they are all playing well then they all get equal ice time. keeps players fresh and less tired too ;)

Most likely when it comes to goaltending yeah.

Still they'll obviously have to have a certain standard of play or it'll go sideways quick.

How about the other new guy Essyimonts first game so far?

TOI: 7:01
Corsi: 0-16
Shots: 0-10
xGF%: 0%

I didnt think it was possible to be that bad.
While I have no desire defending said player, what do you mean by "I didnt think it was possible to be that bad"?. You've just posted some pleb's Corsi and xGF%. Watch a game.

This hasn't been a one-off thing. Those guys have been getting routinely destroyed on their losing streak. And were getting destroyed once again in that game.

Our top guys have bad games, and even bad stretches of games, but I don't think it has ever been that bad for that long... And especially not the entire group.

And while it has often been subtle, there have been games he has rolled back their minutes when they were playing poorly. Never a full 20 minute benching, and they still played more than most guys, but you could tell that they were not being used as often.

Yeah fair enough. I would also say that as someone who's coached some of these guys for 10 years, Cooper probably needs more drastic measures to get through to these guys than Keefe would. And yeah, when the Leafs stars have bad games it typically looks like they're a non-factor rather than actively bad
