Or bc they are playing the 2nd half of b2b and the 3rd game in 4 nights. Guess other teams do play like crap due to fatigue
I would agree that is a part of it but every team has had back to back games and 3 in 4 and Tampa has the fewest shots of the year through 2.

No shots in the 2nd period.

In fairness. No team has been to the finals 3 years in a row

Is Tampa giving Cooper a big FU?

4 shots through 2 periods?

0 shots in the 2nd period. Wow
Tampa has made the cup finals 3 years in a row. They’ll be fine and deserve the benefit of the doubt.

I am more worried about the Leafs right now TBH with you.

Yea.

I said the same thing later on.

It is still surprising to see them go through this slump. Not the losing streak, but the way they are losing.

If they lose Hedman for the playoffs, they Defence is done. They will need Vas to be on his A+ game every night

I think it is the way they are losing that is quite different from years past when they hit their losing streak.

I wonder if Ghost could have helped the Leafs PP?

Could they survive his 5v5 play?

On fire in Carolina. PP is 6 for 7 and he has 2 goals and 5 points.

Tampa may be imploding now ... but come playoff time I expect a very good series and you can't take them lightly ever.

Crazy part though is Ottawa and Buffalo are really starting to come on. They may both make it.

I figure by next season the Atlantic is going to get very difficult. I do think Boston will finally starting trending downward though too. It'll be a much bigger battle to be in the top 3.

You more worried about leafs than a team who allowed 3.4 goal by game against non-trash team with the best goalie of the league?

If hedman is done, i cant see how tampa can beat toronto

Sabres and Sens don’t have goaltending.
But Sens is scary bc Bettman will game mgt in order to boast up Sens value

They still have Vas. It will be harder but Vas can have 4 shut outs in 7 games

Maybe.. and I do hate the Sens but I know some fans and it's usually pretty good banter.

Also the spot where they may put the arena would be unreal. They'd be a lot higher for attendance right downtown and their team is getting a lot better. Even if they don't make it this year they're close.

And yes I hate admitting that... f*** the sens etc but they're getting there. It was a good rivalry. The Habs and Sens as much as I hate those franchises as they do the Leafs... its fun when all the teams are competitive and fighting for playoffs. I'd rather Tampa and Boston die off and have other Canadian teams battling.

Probably better for the cap rising too.

To me, the only Canadian teams rivalries are really the Sens and Habs. Other Canadian teams want us to think they are Leafs rivals but the truth is that we really don’t care.
I do want to see the Sens and Habs do well bc it makes beating them better

Agreed

They need to have a decent team in front to protect him a minimal... vasilevskiy played the entire season with tampa and tampa is one of worst defensive team actually amount all team in playoff... only Edmonton, pittsburgh, Lak and seattle who had been worst defensivly result amount actual playoff team and every of those team had huge defensive /goaltending issues all year long

Tampa allowed 3.39 goal by game against non bottom 7 team, they already struggle pretty hard defensivly with vasilevskiy, i cant imagine by losing hedman too...

But they still have Vas. That’s the point. Vas doesn’t need great defence to steal games and series.
Not saying losing Hedman is not a big blow to them bc it is.

I don't even want to speculate into the mental state the Toronto Maple Leafs would be in should they face Buffalo or Ottawa. You'd think a matchup with a younger, lesser experienced team with more flaws would be the right stepping stone to finally get on our way, but the idea of a Leafs team frontrunning again with their Harlem Globetrotter habits would terrify me. They can't be allowed to feel good, cause when they do, they don't show up.

Tampa on their way to losing 5 straight. If it weren't for our lovely Leafs, we would have a sizable lead for home ice.

It seems like home ice will be more important this year given how brutal Tampa has been on the road (Leafs have not been great themselves). They've been blown out several times, only 3-11-0 vs playoffs teams, and they are now under .500 overall on the road. The playoffs are usually different, but I don't know......Tampa wasn't this bad last year. They had a solid road record

Gotta win games 1 and 2 at home

I'd still have to go into that series giving them full respect. If they're out of gas and you can close it out, great. But if there's one team that will have one ass kicking left to hand out, it's Tampa. If there's ever a team that will get its ass kicked, it's the other blue and white team.

If tampa allowing 5 2v1, 6 guy all alone in front of the net + playing 75% of the time in their own zone because they struggle defensivly... soon or later vasilevskiy will concede goal...

Ps its just an exemple

People said the same thing about Montreal's D in 2021.

As of right now. the Leafs' core has proven to be consistently choker-level regardless of which defensive group is in front of them in a game 7.

The core needs to buckle up or even an average defensive group will eventually dominate.

I think that’s the problem with them. I really think it is a cultural thing with the Leafs. That’s why I hope the new guys will bring that workman like attitude and rub it off the others. So far they are doing it bc even late into last night game, Acciari, Lafferty were still forechecking and hitting.

It didn't register with me at the time, but last Sunday's Seattle game was one of those textbook hinge moments when things go wrong with this group of Maple Leafs.

Massive party style win on the road, big smiles in the post game, lots of momentum and big talk about championship goals, trade deadline week acquisitions, everybody is riding high. So of course a cold streak is coming.

I can't imagine the organization doesn't talk about this internally, you just can't figure out what the major malfunction of this team is.
