GDT: Around the League - 2021/22 PART II

Columbus is either sweet hot garbage or Carolina is going to be a favorite to win the cup this year. Or both. Canes turned a 4-0 CBJ lead into a 6-4 meltdown in a period and a half like they're just toying around. 46 shots on net and counting.

watching McDavid play... and I might be in the minority here... I don't think I want him on the Leafs anymore; whether he stays an oiler or not; don't want him to be a Leaf - at least the way he is playing the game right now

I don't want McDavid on the Leafs if it involves trading for him. It would mean gutting the team and trading 1sts.

If we sign him as a UFA he will bring us a Stanley Cup

I think there’s merit in the argument that the Oilers never gave McDavid proper mentorship at the NHL level and basically gave him the keys to the team and given their failures to date, McDavid’s attitude/leadership on the team could be poor.

That being said poor depth, goaltending, and defensive aren’t his fault either.

I have no doubts that a team built more properly would change his focus so he doesn’t feel that he has to carry the load. I bet there would be some buy in there.

But trading for him would gut your team in all likeliness.
