Oilers actually got some 5 on 5 secondary scoring, but Mike Smith was playing dodgeball in net. It's always something for the Oilers isn't it lol

Vegas had a frisky forward group today without their top 3 players. I hope Brooks stays in the lineup once everyone is healthy.

It's funny reading comments by Oilers fans who think Mike Babcock will fix their terrible team defence.
I would encourage that talk. I would love to see Babcock behind that bench. Don't get me wrong - I love the job Tippett is doing, but if he's going to be replaced, best that Edmonton takes the Leafs off the hook for whatever is left of that contract.

Hyman last 7 games
0 goals
2 assist
-8 rating

Putrid contract. Dodged a massive bullet there. Love the guy but wow terrible.

I liked Hyman as much as anyone but yes agreed. Now the most recent games paint a far worse picture than what Hyman can do, but that heater he was on earlier in the year wasn't realistic either.

TBH, I think Bunting is far better offensively than Hyman. He's made plays in 30 games that Hyman hasn't made in 5 seasons with the leafs.

Good. Extra time is on the horizon…… wait….how did Hedman get the penalty

Doesn’t get brought up nearly enough, Senators traded Zibanejad AND a second for Brassard and a 7, oof
True…but I posted before the SO and was giving the advantaged based on the goalies.
And I predicted the rangers to be in the playoffs this year.
Hell there’s really only Tampa and Washington as real contenders. Maybe Florida, or maybe Carolina if they add some feistiness, so who knows, they could win the the East.

Those four are the east contenders, very important to win the Atlantic. Going to be a slugfest, let’s hope conditions let it happen on schedule.

I’d like to see Carolina add lots of grit and Florida a little more sandpaper before the playoff start.

and then traded Brassard for a mid round pick in a season where he was putting up a 50+ point season. So the next time some one appeals to authority, they need to be shown the Zibanejad case: of how Ottawa felt it was necessary to trade a guy they'd been scouting since he was a teenager (and a freaking 2nd) for a rough and tumble guy who'd be turning 28 the next season... a guy who, incidentally, produces points at a similar rate to the younger guy being traded off. By the way, the also ended up paying more IRL $ for Brassard's services.

Oilers fans in shambles right now...

WTF was Holland thinking signing 39 year old Mike Smith to a 2 year extension. He's only 2.2m on the salary cap, but what a massive fail not trying to pick up a better, younger goalie. And they also have no defense and zero secondary scoring. McJesus is going to be a Leaf when his contract ends :)

Honestly their goaltending hasn't been the biggest problem. It's been more below average than awful, ranking 22nd in the league in save %....and that's with a team that plays no defense likely making the goaltending look worse than jt actually is.

And it ranked in the teens before the last two games when Smith has come back from a long injury and legit been awful.

They then traded Brassard to Pittsburgh, after Conference finals, which turned into Jacob Bernard Docker (1st rounder), Filip Gustavsson (2nd round goalie) and Ian Cole (flipped for a third rounder).

I can’t believe I am staying this but I really want the Islanders to win today against the Oilers.

I want Holland to bring in his buddy Babs.

Have you seen the release on some of Hymans goals this season? Bunting can't do that.

I'm fine with Bunting over Hyman but don't see the need to drag Hyman down just to bring Bunting up. They're both guys I'd take in a heart beat on my rosters.
