One good thing I guess about this extended break is that it has now allowed TB and FLA to catch us in GP.

I’m just glad to have some games on tonight though. I’ll take any hockey I can get at this point.

I hope they are all like last nights crazy games. Looked like early season Leaf games from a couple years back.

Babs never seemed to care about backbreaking here tho.

We were as bad as or worse defensively every year under babs than the Oilers are.

Edmonton doesn’t have the personal to play to babs strengths on offence. They don’t have a deep forward core. They would have 2/3 of 3 lines and a fourth liner on each line then.
X(shore,Perlini) - Mcdavid - Pujuljarvi
Foegle - Draisaitl - Kassian?
Hyman - Ryan Nugget Hopkins - Yamamoto
Turris - Ryan - Sceviour

compare that to
Hyman - Matthews - Nylander
JVR - Bozak - Marner
Komarov - Kadri - Brown
Martin - Boyle - Kapanen

or even
Hyman - Tavares - Marner
Johnsson - Matthews - Kapanen
Brown - Kadri - Nylander
Marleau - Gauthier - Ennis

2 of those three has three complete lines that can be rolled 16-18 minutes each. Edmonton doesn’t even have that, unless babs goes against his principle and stacks lines, but at that point why hire him, it’s not gonna work.

And let’s not even start on his defence, they’d need shesterkin or vasilievsky to be competitive

I can't believe Holland had all that money this summer and spent it all on Hyman, RNH, Keith, Barrie, and Ceci.

Just all the capspace he'll ever have dumped right onto complementary players at best, and that's being generous to some of them. Hyman's the only one of those guys I'd even want on my team at any price, and even he I wouldn't want at that price.

He could have saved that money for 2-3 actual difference makers but nope.

And now it's still McDrai or nothing, and not even good depth bought with all that money.

What a fail.

Barrie being signed made no sense, they had nurse and Bouchard for pp duties, making barrie obsolete as that guy doesn’t know the term defence

Keith pretty much told everyone he’d only go to Edmonton, i don’t know how they didn’t get 50% retention and give up less. He shouldn’t have been a priority move unless he was available for dirt cheap

They stuck with Smith and Koskinen….. that’s just bad management. Andersen, kuemper, nedeljkovic, mrazek, raanta, hill and many others were available to sign or trade for

Dumpster diving doesn’t work for them. Turris, Ryan, Sceviour have all been bad.

Foegele seems like a nice add, but he has literally no one to play with. They haven’t found value in rebounding guys either, apart from their own pick of puljujarvi

Ceci cannot be the best move any team makes, especially if their goal is to win a cup

somehow they make capable nhl players like ennis and kahun look unplayable

It’s actually sad to see as they are wasting superstar talent

The Pacific division is very interesting. Not sure about Calgary eventhough they are playing very well. Van seems to have turned it around.
Vegas will get Eichel back soon. ducks are playing lights out too

poor Edmonton thought it was gonna be a cake walk to win the division.

Vancouver now 4 points back of the Oilers. Edmonton has 2 games in hand though

What a turn around by the Canucks, lots of time for them to get into a playoff spot

7 straight after coach change.

However, Gibson gave them the game last night. Both goals the Canucks scored were on brainfarts be Gibson. He made some good saves, as most keepers do, but overplayed and slept on the long cross ice pass on the first goal, and stayed deep in his own net when he could have got the puck before the forward in overtime.

Both goals were gimmies.

I did think Vancouver had too much talent to be that bad in that division. As much as I found their losing amusing.

I have Demko in my fantasy league so I'm happy about the turn
