The only thing I wonder is how you deal with guys acquired at the deadline but it does sound like it's trending in that direction.

I would think you saddle the acquiring team only with the remaining cap hit for the year at the time of acquisition. Isn't that how it's normally done or is there something I'm missing?

What's really crazy is the expectations were so insanely ridiculous for him that it feels like a failure in some people's eyes that he hasn't reached the Makar/Fox level of franchise defenseman yet.

For team-wide performance it makes sense to read what has been working and what has not lately for the opposition. So I understand that we are in analytics as well now?

Eakins or any coach should also reach out to other local coach teams. For example in CA Dave Robert's, Mcvay, frank Vogel etc and pick their brain. Get insight on what they do and maybe apply it to the team if it's relevant.

Out of curiosity who is his competition there? The only other two I can think of off the top of my head are Gomez and Torres.

Gomez was also one of the few to come from state of Alaska.
There is other half mexicanos like Auston such as Pacioretty (half Italian half Mexican).

Auston has some immaturity for sure but a generational American talent is so rare i hope he doesn't spend his whole career as a Leaf.

Yeah probably Makar currently. Bedard is meant to be the next generational player but I don’t think he ends up as good as Crosby or McDavid. I think he will end up on the Matthews/MacKinnon level of one overall which is still really good, just not that once in a generational type of guy.
