Rumors of Leafs in on Quick. Kings would take Andersen and either keep him or flip him also.
I think Quick would have to be onboard but if he is then send him on his way and hope he gets a cup. His age doesn't line up with the the kids and he's maybe got another good year or two left so send him off cup hunting, retain on the deal for a high pick and use it to select a top 3 goalie at the draft.

So Quick is worth a 3rd....maybe a 2nd?

50% retained, TOR 1st is going to be high 20's, pretty good for someone who can fight to be in a 1A 1B. Its more that TOR want to go for it and they've got to tick the boxes, if you spend your 1st and it means you end up with a Jennings tandom, a cap hit for both at 1m less than Freddy for the next year AND you address the problem goaltending thats plagued you for the last few playoff series then its good value. Ask them what they'd pay to not have Freddy give up soft goals in crutial points in the playoffs and itll be more than a 3rd.

Theres also the point that the Kings are happy to hold onto Quick. The current 1A 1B setup works well, we have no depth and the cap hit doesnt matter so we're not trading him for a 3rd because a 3rd does nothing for us.

I think Vasilevskiy is the most recent 1st rounder to be a starter right now....and he was drafted in 2012

I have to disagree that it is working. What would work is Cal clear #1 and JQ as backup.

With Andersen’s contract ending this year, that’s no going to help with expansion draft. Will either need to pick up another goalie or extend Freddie or Goose.

I mean I like Campbell but I’d rather have Quickie in the playoffs. On a stacked team like Toronto he could have a solid run. He takes it to another level in the playoffs. Just not sure the price would be worth moving a guy whose number will be in the rafters.

I'd be in no hurry (nor need) to trade Quick. We have hand here. So other team would need to make us a deal we can't refuse (1st round pick). Do we really need another 2/3rd round pick? Keeping Quick is more valuable to us than that (legacy, expansion draft, etc.).

Do fans really think that Quick is satisfied with the current rotation? I doubt it. He is an aggressive, competitive guy that most likely doesn't want to end his Kings career as a rotational goalie trending towards a backup on a non-playoff team. This guy should be in the playoffs every year. That's the only thing a lot of older players stay in the league for who aren't chasing career records. They want more chances at the Cup.

People talk about this being valuable to the Kings. What's the value for Quick? Not every player wants to be a mentor for a young player. I have no idea if he wants to do that or not but at this stage, he most likely would rather be in the net at almost every opportunity like most winners would.

Outside of being comfortable with his current teammates, there is nothing in this for Quick to stay. He can keep his home in Southern California and return for Summers.

Nothing except the contract he signed. Quick is a competitor no doubt but he signed the deal. If he is unhappy being a backup then he better sharpen up to keep the job as starter. MAF or Mike Smith are still getting it done at older ages than Quick. Hell, oiler fans are talking extension for the 38 year old smith.

I'm sure if Quick is dissatisfied, he'll tell the coaching staff. Otherwise he's never going to tell any of us or a blogger what his thoughts on his role are. The guy has always been a team player and never thrown his teammates under the bus. You're making a lot of presumptions about what Quick wants. What he wants doesn't ultimately matter anyway. The Kings org will make the best decision for the team and so far, they seem fine with keeping Quick around as a solid alternative to Cal and a great locker room guy. He's also good bait for the expansion draft.

I doubt Quick's feelings matter here. It's all about his age and term. And of course what Blake has to do for the expansion draft.

Quick is 35, has to be accounted for for at least 2 more seasons, hasn't won a playoff game since 2016, and no series since 2014. Even 2018 was 3 years ago.

Even if Quick wanted out, another team needs to want him.

Every goalie wants to play every game but I don't think Quick would be "unhappy" with the current situation: he's basically in a 50/50 split when taking into account he was out with an injury.

If he were traded to Toronto, there is no guarantee that he isn't in another relative 50/50 split and he's under the strongest microscope in the league playing for the Leafs.

I do agree that he will not enjoy becoming the 30 in a 70/30 split with Petersen but he also might enjoy being part of this franchise playing relevant games again. He isn't getting a new contract anyways so he might learn to live with being the back-up here.

if he asks to be moved he has done enough for the team that I hope they would assist in finding him a location that is beneficial, and that still works for LA.
