Has his faults, but he’d be a better option than Maata or MacD.
Signed for this season + 2 more @ $4,050,000. Would feel a lot better if the cap hit was a million or so less. Would be a nice pickup but I think Maata keeps his job for now.

Its not a problem if Blake is telling the truth about not adding anyone now or over the summer and sticking with this slow rebuild.

I still think they will make a move this summer and then you don’t like having this contract on the books.

It’s just tough watching Maata and MacD.

The thing that always sticks with me after that 2010 SCF is that was the beginning of the "see? You just need replacement level goaltending" garbage haha

RIchards head injuries were the cause for the buyout, which might not have happened in Philly., that statement is illogical.
I don't think so.

It's much more likely that his body was breaking down due to years pain med abuse and playing through injuries. It's a common issue with NHL players that are known as "tough".

It was an issue before he got here. He didn't have much good hockey left in him.

If you didn't know Zegras went down to Taxi Squad. If he is going to continue doing all of these dipsy-doodle moves in the neutral zone you are going to find out really quick why you shouldn't in the NHL.

Saw this posted elsewhere, thought it was great.

there's something very amusing to me about there being 2 professional hockey players in NA named desharnais where one is 6'7" and the other is 5'7"

Tough time to be a Ducks fan. They are going to be pretty bad for probably the next 3 years.

They waited to long to unload a lot of their tradable vets.

Getzlaf is basically Thornton now, can distribute the puck and not much else, might lose a foot race to Matt Greene.

Guys like Steel, Terry and Jones who were once highly thought of young players have yet to take any kind of steps to show they are any more than bottom six players.

Lindholm never lived up to his #6 overall hype, not a bad player by any stretch but not the star like many expected.

Gibson has regressed and lost confidence playing behind this awful defense, amazingly he turns 28 this year so he's not a kid either.

I wonder if they don't scorch Earth it and even see what they can get for Fowler if he wants to go.

Kings coach Darryl Sutter after the game: “He’s the best goalie I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe we got one by him tonight. Lot of pressure on him now. A lot of pressure.”

Duckies can trade Rakell (now that he slightly resembles his old self), Fowler, or Getzlaf to help surround Zegras and Drysdale with more young talent. Their top end prospect pool drops off steadily after that.

Pick him up, let him play and if he’s not in our plans long term, trade him at the deadline. Might be able to get a decent pick if he performs well with LA.

The Ducks--like the Sharks--probably have several more years of rebuild ahead.

Just start praying that Shane Wright doesn't come to the Pacific.

How many guys named Carrick do the ducks have?

Two, and they're brothers. Ontario actually has a set of identical twin brothers with the Poehlings right now too. The big difference is that both of them can't crack the AHL roster whereas Sam Carrick is one of the best longtime pros in the AHL. I've watched him play for the Gulls for years and he's always been right around PPG.

You too can be an 8th seed and win.

What tradable vets? Like the Kings, 17-18 was an illusion for the Ducks, but you're not trading Rakell at 24/25 years old, coming off a 34g/69pt season. Trying to deal him after that would be selling low. Getzlaf has a NMC. They signed a lot of their other vets somewhere around the 17-18 season, before or right after, so they're also a victim of bad timing, just like the Kings.

Gibson turns 28 this year. Petersen turns 27.

Duckies can trade Rakell (now that he slightly resembles his old self), Fowler, or Getzlaf to help surround Zegras and Drysdale with more young talent. Their top end prospect pool drops off steadily after that.

Getzlaf, at almost 36, has shown no signs of wanting to leave, plus he has a NMC, and he's done as an impact player. He's worth next to nothing. Rakell is still far off of what he was, so it's still selling low. Fowler has a 4 team NTC, just turned 29, and has a $6.5m cap hit that runs to 2026. He's not moving easily.

Watching this makes me think about Richards. It gives you an idea of what probably happened to him, and what he went through.

What a scary video! Heartwrenching to hear how these players are permantly affected by the nonchalent attitude of the training staff. Kessler's situation is horrible, and that Quincy was not told about hernatied discs and not allowed to get an MRI because the trainers got bonus pay for games played? Wow...

Hard to believe that this stuff still exists in lockerooms.

Main boards are absolutely roasting Karlsson.

Deserved. He is an absolute shell of his former self and now he is causing problems because he doesn't want to be involved in a rebuild, shouldn't have signed the long-term deal then, things change quickly in this league, you can go from contending to awful real quick.

Still sad what has happened to him, Mark Stone was on Chiclets and said in 2017 he thought he was the best player in the world, I don't know about the best but he was without a doubt top 5. When I was a kid there were a few guys who could carry the puck up the ice at will and transition from defense to offense but that was a different era, with today's advanced defensive systems and the size and speed many teams have 1-12 at forward now it's just not something you see at the NHL level, Karlsson in his prime could do that, and it was magical to watch. Unfortunately for the Sharks they are paying for that now and for the next 6 years and it's just never going to happen again.

The ducks do look awful but there are already some really good pieces there. If they can get some more picks/prospects for some of their guys like Rakell, Fowler and Manson, than i think they will be wear LA was after the Turcotte draft. Up an coming prospect pool still building.

Gibson is the wild card for me as i think he can still be a top goalie in the league. Hard to stay focused when you know the team is shit in front of you.

My buddy is a Ducks fan and sent me an article about Ryan Kesler. He basically played with pain and his hip joint deteriorated to the point that he basically didn't have a hip or ***cheek because there was no bone there.

$92m will do far more for Karlsson than any Cup victory could ever do. However, you also have to always remember you're in a hard cap league if you care about winning. Only a very few can have both.

Also have to keep in mind that the players didn't want the cap. You used to be able to trade the high price guy who didn't want to be part of a rebuild.
