I just read an article that said that the Lakers have priority in the scheduling of Staples Center. How is that even possible? I know AEG has a small percentage of Laker ownership but they're actually THE owners of the Kings.

Its hardly an issue, Lakers play a majority of their home games on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Kings play the majority of their home games on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

The Lakers have 13 TNT games this season so majority of those are on Thursdays. So they still get to pick days that the Kings are "accommodated." Saturday is really the only day that the Lakers tend to avoid unless they are on the road. All in all, they have the other 6 days to themselves.

Lakers play 5 home games on Thursdays this season, all of which take place while the Kings are on multiple game road trips. Its really not a big deal, neither team uses the arena as a practice facility, they each play 41 games at home over the course of 7 months and spend an equal amount of time on the road. Both teams probably average 1.5(?) home games per week of the season meaning there's 4 days per week that neither team plays at Staples. The Clippers get to pick up the scraps, but even then, they play only 13 games on Kings' days.

Lastly, as you pointed out, AEG only has a small part ownership of the Lakers. Meaning that the relationship between the Lakers and AEG/Staples is much more of a business relationship/partnership than that of the fully AEG owned Kings and Staples. Giving the Lakers "priority" on scheduling when, as shown above, really doesn't matter much, is an easy concession to get more money out of negotiations. AEG earns 100% of Kings' revenue regardless.

Bingo, it's about money, and like you said the Kings still get plenty of good dates.

The only downside to the Kings arena agreement is the large amount of Saturday day games, especially during football season.

Yeah, I am not wasting an entire Saturday driving to Staples Center and back when I can stay home and watch 4 or 5 good/great college football games on a Saturday.

Surprised Versteeg is leaving Calgary, he seemed to do well there.

Add him to the list of failed wingers we've had: Straka, Sturm, Anson Carter, Nagy, Calder, etc...

Couldn't pass up all that extra Russian Rubles . Him and Dwight King should do well together.

Anthony Peluso just got a contract from the Calgary Flames; one of the best fighters when he's in the league.

He beat up Ryan Reaves not too long ago.

And?

The Kings can just continue doing what they, and the majority of the league have done, and just skate away.
Hitting/Fighting is my favorite part about hockey.

I was happy seeing guys like Jordan Nolan, and Peluso get contracts. Hopefully Luke Gazdic lands somewhere.

The Sharks, Stars and Knights were the 3 (WC) that were pushing hard at the trade deadline and after. The Knights were willing to take Ryan, so that might tip the scales in their favor. The Sharks are pushing the hardest , from what I've heard . But I think it'll end up being a rental, he's already said Tampa is where he wants to sign, so it depends on who is willing to overpay for 1 yr. For a team as loaded as the Sharks, of the teams interested, I think it would get them to the WC finals. But getting past the Jets, not sure if he would be enough.

Also heard that both the Oilers and Leafs are hot after Faulk. Canes outta get RNH in that deal, they need a top center.

What else would Carolina need to add for RNH? Given that they have Staal, Necas and Rask I don't think Center is a huge need, however I do think Carolina needs forwards so maybe one of those players goes to the wing or even RNH himself.

A winger maybe, they have a few of them. Ferland maybe ...or as they have a very deep prospect pool with a few top ones, they could send of them back, Foegele or (Fox maybe if the Oilers want a d) .

RNH- they need a legit #1, and although I think Necas is a stud, he's only 19 and he recent play (stellar) would dictate he'll make the team, putting him on the top line would be too much pressure. I think he'd be on the 3rd line to start, until he gets comfortable in the NHL. But given his skillset, I think he'd move up eventually. He'll be their top center one day, but for the next year or two he might be better under the number 1. . But RNH is a veteran center and would be better suited for the top line , I think, at least for now. Rask and Staal , for me, are not legit top liners. Staal is a good 2/3 guy, shutdown guy.

With Aho, Svechnikov, Zykov and Teravainan, on the club and others on the farm pushing for jobs, they are in a good spot with their forwards. I think RNH is a good fit at center for them.

In an article from The Athletic’s Aaron Portzline quoted in this article:

NHL Rumors - ProHockeyRumors.com

It mentions that the Blue Jackets have not talked to Bobrovsky yet regarding a new contract, his current one is done after the year. It's felt that he is looking for Carey Price $$ and the BJ's are not comfortable with that. It's a double edged sword, he is the biggest part of their success , yet a contract like that, for a goalie, is suicide. Will they trade him and move on??? Or will he realize that he has to drop his demands. If he wants to be a part of them taking the next step, then be realistic.

Time will tell...

also says Panarin if most likely not to be traded by the start of the year (offers they got were for mostly 'futures' and they wanted immediate help) and and BJ's are talking to Rick Nash.

Don't like the leafs but got to give props to this quote after hiring Wickenheiser, "If you're only hiring white males, and I'm saying that as a white male, you're probably leaving a lot on the table in terms of how your organization can development."

A tip of the hat to Dubas.
