who's that?LOL I remember him saying he wanted Jason Allison back in the 2003 offseason.
I just read an article that said that the Lakers have priority in the scheduling of Staples Center. How is that even possible? I know AEG has a small percentage of Laker ownership but they're actually THE owners of the Kings.
Its hardly an issue, Lakers play a majority of their home games on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Kings play the majority of their home games on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
In former Kings news...
The Lakers have 13 TNT games this season so majority of those are on Thursdays. So they still get to pick days that the Kings are "accommodated." Saturday is really the only day that the Lakers tend to avoid unless they are on the road. All in all, they have the other 6 days to themselves.
Lakers play 5 home games on Thursdays this season, all of which take place while the Kings are on multiple game road trips. Its really not a big deal, neither team uses the arena as a practice facility, they each play 41 games at home over the course of 7 months and spend an equal amount of time on the road. Both teams probably average 1.5(?) home games per week of the season meaning there's 4 days per week that neither team plays at Staples. The Clippers get to pick up the scraps, but even then, they play only 13 games on Kings' days.
Lastly, as you pointed out, AEG only has a small part ownership of the Lakers. Meaning that the relationship between the Lakers and AEG/Staples is much more of a business relationship/partnership than that of the fully AEG owned Kings and Staples. Giving the Lakers "priority" on scheduling when, as shown above, really doesn't matter much, is an easy concession to get more money out of negotiations. AEG earns 100% of Kings' revenue regardless.
Yeah, I am not wasting an entire Saturday driving to Staples Center and back when I can stay home and watch 4 or 5 good/great college football games on a Saturday.Bingo, it's about money, and like you said the Kings still get plenty of good dates.
The only downside to the Kings arena agreement is the large amount of Saturday day games, especially during football season.

Surprised Versteeg is leaving Calgary, he seemed to do well there.
Add him to the list of failed wingers we've had: Straka, Sturm, Anson Carter, Nagy, Calder, etc...
Anthony Peluso just got a contract from the Calgary Flames; one of the best fighters when he's in the league.
He beat up Ryan Reaves not too long ago.
Hitting/Fighting is my favorite part about hockey. And?
The Kings can just continue doing what they, and the majority of the league have done, and just skate away.

The Sharks, Stars and Knights were the 3 (WC) that were pushing hard at the trade deadline and after. The Knights were willing to take Ryan, so that might tip the scales in their favor. The Sharks are pushing the hardest , from what I've heard . But I think it'll end up being a rental, he's already said Tampa is where he wants to sign, so it depends on who is willing to overpay for 1 yr. For a team as loaded as the Sharks, of the teams interested, I think it would get them to the WC finals. But getting past the Jets, not sure if he would be enough.
Also heard that both the Oilers and Leafs are hot after Faulk. Canes outta get RNH in that deal, they need a top center.
What else would Carolina need to add for RNH? Given that they have Staal, Necas and Rask I don't think Center is a huge need, however I do think Carolina needs forwards so maybe one of those players goes to the wing or even RNH himself.
Can we start a Karlsson to LA rumor?
I'm bored.
