I've been pretty on board with Blake and also apprehensive to make hasty decisions but I'm starting to feel that Blake needs to start doing something to fix up this roster. Lots of the good teams are retooling making solid changes and we're just sitting on the sidelines doing nothing.

Blake do something. Please.

i'm not sure trying to keep up with the joneses is the right direction at this very moment, but i definitely see what you're saying. i think next offseason is a whole different animal dependent upon whether the coaching change brings the results

think they're content to just kinda sit on it and see how things shake out in the 1st half, but i wouldn't be surprised to see this team get blown up if they fail to make the playoffs again

I am as anxious about Blake making a move to improve our roster as the next guy, but its more reassuring to know he is not making the moves Stan Bowman is making. Looks like Bowman is veering towards Dean Lombardi status.

Looks like the best move for Blake is to keep our 1st rounder, and wait until UFA and sign some second tier forwards like Vrbata, Iginla, Jagr etc.

Aww it's because Toews and Kane missed Saad.

Chicago gets swept and Bowman makes major deals. Wonder if Seabrook is next. Kings win 1 playoff game in 2 seasons and Lombardi signs Teddy Purcell lol

They didn't love him enough to take less on their deals so Chicago could keep some of their other pieces. Love only goes wallet deep I guess...

IMO, Bowman wins both his deals today. Fast forward 2 years when Panarin's contract will expire and you will see. Saad being signed for 2 years longer than Panarin is huge. Murphy turned 24 three months ago and is still young. He played in Arizona's weak system his whole career and has room to grow still. Not to mention he still has a great contract with term. Dauphin is a good B-level prospect with some upside.

Really like Saad...but not for panarin, he's a points machine

Pts machine = yes
Defensive liability = yes

Saad D was missed and with loss of Hossa a player like Saad is more important going forward then Panarin

Also Saad at 4 yrs x 6M is important as Panarin will be UFA in 2 years and Hawks wont be able to extend him

If the Kings can't get past Arizona, they don't deserve to live.

I remember similar sentiments last year about Calgary and Edmonton.

Arizona was always bound to improve. Their moves today were pretty good for them.

There are 3 guaranteed spots open in the Pacific.

Edmonton
Anaheim
???

Is LA icing the same roster???

Saad also has great speed which Chicago doesn't have a lot of. They play fast but they don't necessarily have that one guy who is going to burn by you and can finish. I watched Kane closely last season against the Kings and I never realized what an average skater he is. Obviously he's still a great player but he's more shifty and quick rather than fast.

Blackhawks will miss Panarin. They lost a top scorer and if I remember correctly, most Hawks fans said they were a "one-line team" last season.

I don't mind either trade Bowman made but I don't think the majority of Hawks fans will be too pleased.

That trade shouldn't be a surprise, it's the reason he got a 2 yr bridge, the HAwks trying for one more Cup run before they had to trade him, they cannot afford his asking price
Saad and Forsberg are cheaper, and have term, fit the books. It's all about the CAP and the clout that the Toewes and Kane carry.

Nice for the BJ's...Anisimov and Jenner...some nice forwards, a good team got better.

Tons of action this morning. Hearing Vegas continues to push to move into the top 3 and the NYR may also trade up. Lots of moving parts.

Don't see what Vegas has that would get you in the top 3

I'm told the @NHLBruins are trying to get Marco Scandella. They are not alone. #tvasports

I doubt he gets that much but I do think he'll set the new bar around $11 million.

I would be surprised if he got that much but not shocked. There's precedent. Weber got 14m a year in actual salary. Kopi is getting it as well. And McDavid will be all prime years at an 8 year max. So it can't dive like Weber and Kopi.

In any case it will be huge.

****...Doughty will get more than Kopitar too.

Chicago won the Cup with both Kane and Toews on their ELC's. Pittsburgh got to the Final with both Crosby and Malkin on their ELC's, and won the Cup the following season with Malkin still on his ELC. Kopitar was 2 years into his 2nd contract, and Doughty had just signed his 2nd contract a few months before the first Cup. Draisaitl's is up now, and McDavid has one year left.
