Sharks fans saying Burns should win the Norris.

It's clearly between Doughty and Karlsson.

I get that Burns should at least be in the conversation. But at the end of the day he has no business winning it nor should anyone expect him to.

Those people who feel that EK should win, should have Burns as their #2 as they likely value offense over anything else. And Burns goal totals are very impressive.

Right. And if DL called and said let's swap Burns for DD right now, there would be a parade in San Jose and thousands of people volunteering to drive him to the airport. Brent Burns season = Mike Green season.

The only argument they have is regarding his goals. I remember Sharks fans ripping Burns for his crappy defense this season.

The big thing is making 25% of the payroll avail.
It's said as payroll not cap.
So we would be looking at around 20M to have to have exposed. And brown is only 1/3 of that number.

exactly.. I am guessing both Brown and Gaborik would be exposed and I imagine there is a good chance neither gets claimed.

he may win the fantasy hockey norris...but that's about it.

Has been a stud for me in a couple of leagues but that's because often only points matter in fantasy

That seems weird to me. In previous expansions did they also take into account payroll, or is this a new thing?

I'm sure it's new due to cap era but also the idea that they want the new team to be competitive as per everything I read this morning from Friedman, McKenzie

I thought it was also interesting that they're continuing to debate NMCs as possibly included given that the current statute doesn't account for expansion and because leagues hate them (as per 30 Thoughts)

ducks - rangers tonight. i'll watch it as an overture to kings - rangers tomorrow, but i'm also curious about the ducks in general, lak's path to stanley is only over their corpses.

Meh, Rangers looking past the Ducks to avenge 2014

this expansion draft isn't going to help the Kings.

No way a team takes Brown over someone like Forbort/Gravel (if Brown allows himself to be moved in the first place)

Forbort/Gravel would be exempt, as I understand it, because of their number of years in the league. McNabb is the one on D we would potentially lose.

that's how I understand it to. Although they maybe eligible come next summer.

As for the Brown allowing it..I think NMC are null and void when it comes to expansion. That is what the league is insisting but I do not see the PA allowing it

Yeah but Karlsson wouldn't be the same player on the Kings. Offensively he'd still be better than Doughty but he wouldn't be getting close to 80 points. He'd probably sit around 60-65 on the Kings.

Im not so sure, I really dont think he would put up crazy numbers on a structured team. Sutter's system will shrink anyone's offensive numbers... even our holy Lord Savior Karlsson

rj, seriously, how do you see kings vs ducks h2h this season? i'm not afraid about the playoff series with them, imo it's at least 50-50 for lak, but i just can't find a fine edge this season, a lot of stats arguments favour ducks in this case, apart from playoffs being a completely different animal, and history goes with lak here.

Well Doughty is going to end up with 50-52 points this season. I don't think it's that much of a stretch to think Karlsson would end up with 8-10 more on the Kings.

Just noticed were 2 point out of best in the west, with two games in hand...

I think it's a fair matchup I'd just rather not play them because they literally went out and built their team to beat us. Beating us would be their Stanley Cup.

I like our odds in a playoff matchup where Sutter would give two more ***** about line matchups and expand our playbook a bit. Meanwhile, Boudreau has already been hardmatching everything he wants. I think i'ts a wildcard because we don't know exactly how our team will respond in a heated playoff matchup when we already know exactly what Boudreau wants to do.

Still LMAO about Kesler 'owning' Kopitar in their head to head matchups when Kopitar's metrics go up across the board without fail faced with Kesler. Can hope they keep going to that.

Honestly the biggest problem vs. the Ducks lately has been their defensive depth and the line matchups. Rakell is a major player for them, so when Carter was hurting, Getzlaf-Rakell-Kesler was eating Carter-Vinny for lunch. I like our odds more as Carter gets healthier and Boudreau doesn't get to constantly put LOADED lines out vs. our worst repeatedly (I had to lol last game when he literally put out Getzlaf-Perry-Rakell-Fowler-Vatanen vs. our 4th line and Schenn-McNabb. IN L.A. That's not going to happen in the playoffs).
