The ice arena is owned by North Carolina State University, which uses it primarily for its CBB programme. It opened in 1999 and is pretty much a college-level sporting facility (NCSU's CFB stadium is across the parking lot), which explains why its opposing dressing room sucks. Things have gotten weird though because NCSU were the ones to build it, but Dundon has been given a lot of ownership/rights the past couple of years of the arena from the school to do renovations. I think he might be majority owner of the arena now.
A quote from a player in that article is gold:
"It used to be Carolina, but then they upgraded,” one player said. “And somehow it's still Carolina."

appealing a suspension should be like a coaches challenge, if you lose, it gets doubled.

I love this.

At some point, players should be really questing their union for defending this shit. I mean seriously, they do not give the union an insignificant amount of money. Exactly whose interest are being protected here? It certainly doesn't appear to be either the life or safety of the union's members.

The Rantanen goalie interference call was as clear as it gets. Rants crosses into the crease and snags Comrie's goal stick, pulling his right hand and blocker to the left as the puck goes to his blocker side. Comrie couldn't get his blocker over because Rantanen was pushing the knob of his stick in the opposite direction. He was physically blocked from making the save because of contact from an opposing player in the crease, I don't know how it gets more obvious than that.

I understand the PA kinda has to do these things but I find it annoying they work harder on behalf of the dirtiest players in the league than the ones they injure.
Yeah this is where I'm at too.. you'd think at some point they'd be like dude stop deliberately injuring your fellow union brothers?

The coach right?
Yes. Though he sure did look like a mastermind the other night against Bednar, I still don't think he's a good head coach at all.

I'll also add that I'm not letting EP40 off the hook here. He shares a great deal of the blame for his own struggles, and while I think Miller is a giant man-child, I don't think he's entirely at fault for the huge dustup between him and Petey either. I do think Petey is a bit of a moody pissant in his own right, but , unless there really is a lingering injury issue, I believe he can return to form in the right situation.

Like having one of the greatest Swedish NHL Captains of all time on his team?

I'm going to miss Karlsson when he eventually retires. The absolutly comical turnovers and missed coverages are just so funny.

Edit* Poor poor Graves. 38 games and not a single point, and just totally fans with a wide open net.

Haven't watched Karlsson in nearly 5 years and don't miss him at all.

My eyes always roll when I see his scoring numbers. He's the defensive version of Mikko. He's was/is really, really good at finishing. Do NOT expect to see either in the defensive zone. At least Eric can lug the puck up the ice regularly whereas Mikko would either slip and fall or just turn it over when he trips on the redline.

I think the concern for EP is that he needs the perfect situation to feel comfortable, and you're not always going to have that.

There could always be some other type of situation that gets him off his game, and he doesn't seem to be motivated to compete when things aren't going his way. Not really conducive to playoff success with a team built around a player like that.

Relatively often in the playoffs, things aren't going to go your way, and you have to have an inner compete/drive, to get you to overcome that enough to win.
