Arizona Coyotes Lounge XXV

God I hope they are break up.
Nyah…. Taylor had nothing to do with it. Niners were cursed before they put the stadium up.

Edit: Should be noted the Chiefs and Raiders have had a long standing feud with one another going back decades.

I went to the Phoenix Open with my 17 year old daughter. We loved it!!! There were a few drunks, but there always is lol

Plus a lot of tents were all you can drink...

That's a helluva turd someone birthed.
It was the Palo Verde. Well, really it was the builder. Apparently in 2007 they figured it was okay if they ran out of glue and they could just kinda wedge the pipe together and then bury it under 8.5ft of dirt with Gas AND Telecom lines running right over top of it. The Palo Verde just did what any Palo Verde would do when given free access to an unlimited stream of water and fertilizer.

Turns out digging down 9ft BY HAND around buried utility lines and pulling out six feet of roots and replace six feet of pipe is kinda hard and costs a lot.

I had a sissoo tree in the front yard of my previous home, and I ended up getting out of that particular situation by just selling the goddamned house...

About 10 years ago in my starter home (1970s build in Mesa) my water main sprung a big leak. I was quoted many thousands of dollars to repair.

Instead, I watched a YouTube video, bought on of those butane torch sweat on kits, a small coupling and a couple hundred pounds of playground sand. All in, about $80.

A couple of days of PTO and a very sore back later, that problem was solved.

That was only 4-5 feet down and there were no utilities in the way.

My neighbor had one of those. It ruined my life. Haha.

Roots were pushing up my AC pad. They agreed to chop it down. For two years giant trees sprouted up from root suckers all over my lawn and damaged my patio and walls.

For those who don't know, sissoo trees are fast-growing, beautiful shade trees that are very popular in Phoenix landscaping these days because they mature so quickly and provide so much relief from the sun. But their root system is invasive as hell and strong to boot, which means they'll reach underground across yards, through pipes and utilities, up through concrete, and etc. and just wreak unfettered havoc in general.

Fool me once...

That's your punishment for planting a non-native species. ;)

My first house in AZ had this beautiful tree in the corner that we wanted to keep while building pool and backyard. A month into ownership a storm blows through and knocks have the tree down. $300 later the landscaper had it trimmed abd looking even and good again. One month later another storm and this tree was halved again and because it wax now in a corner behind pool we decided again for landscaper to trim and make it look nice, and $300. Fast forward another month and another storm took this tree out. $400 to get roots and such dug out by hand.

In the end the only part of backyard I tried to keep ended up being a $1000 hole in the ground.

Does it mean anything that when I google sissoo trees, the first picture of an "Indian Rosewood" sent me to "Wahat Al Sahraa Nurseries"?

(from the fine folks who brought you the word "haboob"!)

edit: update - 'Indian' there means south Asia, not, well, the land surrounding Phoenix.

...OMG it gets better...you can use its twigs as a toothbrush!

Are palo verde trees non-native? We had one and it crushed my sewer line. It was about 4- 5 feet down. I was always worried about it blowing over in a storm. You'll see the shallow root system, but I don't think mine would have been a problem. We cut it down and replaced it with a Texas Ebony.

Sissoos are from India and palo verdes are native. Sissoos were popular during the bubble. Fast growing, no water needed, providing tons of shade. What could be better?!?? Oh yeah, reason why they don’t need water is their ENORMOUS root systems grows just inches below the surface and spreads for like +50 yards.

Palo Verdes are great trees. Less prone to blowing over than some do the other options. And they have those beautiful yellow blooms in the spring. And they’re that neon green trunk all year round. I don’t blame the palo verde for my sewer. If that pipe wasn’t wide open, the tree wouldn’t have gone for it.

Acacias are non native African trees and those do well here.

I love the Chinese Elms that line the streets in my neighborhood. Every house has to have one out front at the curb. And all the common areas have them lining the curb. They’re nice. Pretty autumn color. But they’re WEAK every monsoon season we lose 10% of them. They just snap in half. I’ve lost major limbs off of mine.

Good to see new arenas still happen.

The $2b price tag will be split 50/50 between the team and taxpayers, who still have to vote.o_O

It took 35 minutes to find parking after work tonight. I have never wanted The Vig to go out of business more than I have tonight. Everyone in the neighborhood hates them and their patrons that take up our parking and cause more problems because they have no parking skills.

Dropped $600 on a pair of lower bowl on the blueline seats for when the Yotes are in Toronto later this month.

Ticketmaster f***ed up and sent me seats behind the Leafs net. Had them correct this (original seats were gone), so instead they replaced them at no additional cost with centre ice seats about 10 rows up. Face value of those in Toronto is $450 each.

Good day.

(They also offered me 3 rows up in the corner, face value $1000 each, but you can’t see shit from there)

Nice! Hopefully the boys give you another good day. As for the corner seats, they'd be great, depending on where they lie on the radius, if they aren't looking at an angle through the plexiglass.

That’s been my experience when trying glass seats at junior games. Nothing worse than trying to look around some backup goalie who won’t sit down
