Oilers can take the chance no one claims him at 3.75 letting him become a UFA.
Then Edmonton can sign him cheaper.

Since he has a full NMC, Pretty sure he will just waive it and be bought out right away no sense on going on waivers. In case that a team claims him that might be on his no trade list and he doesn't want to play for.

Arizona needs the room for their up-and-coming centers. If he clears and becomes UFA, his contract will still count against the Coyotes cap which will help them reach the cap floor...or something like that.

In reality, Vermette was the Coyotes worst Top 9 forward for the first half of last year....but played well after the trade deadline when paired with Tanguay.

Vermette has a nmc. Doesn't he have to agree to be waived?

I do feel like there is something that is going on that is not being told to us.

My memory, which can be faulty, I think this is one of those odd things

In order for teams to buyout a player, he has to be put on unconditional waivers, but if he has a no movement clause, he can deny being placed on waivers, yet the team can still buy him out even if he refuses to be placed on waivers.

Chaykas putting together that Kucherov offer sheet. kid dont care, he does what he wants.

I really like that idea, although maybe I shouldn't since they are a division rival.

It's a bit weird though considering that Tampa probably would match. They aren't that tight for space. Down the road they have to re-sign Johnson though, and of course Hedman's extension kicking in

Not sure what to think of this move.
He's a serviceable C, that can win face-offs, and still produce.
Plus, his veteran experience can help the young guys coming onto the team.
But GM Chayka has been making all the right moves so far, so I'll trust he's making another one.

I really like the moves Arizona is making.

Also this opens up a spot for Strome and Dvorak. One of them alone will easily cover Vermettes production. Looks like Vermette is more of a PP specialist at this point in his career.

I'd easily take him on the Preds. Even if he is just a PP specialist, our PP has been horrendous for several seasons now.

that skill matches the Oilers needs just fine though. We could boot Letestu from our power play finally, and for 5 on 5, we're fine with limited offense if he could play well on the 3rd line.

Yup, since he's apparently on waivers(must have agreed to waive his NMC to be put on them) the Oilers should jump at this. If TO doesn't want him, the Oilers should pick him up. It allows us to take Letestu off the PP, improve our FO and ease Drai in by putting him on Nuge's wing

I don't think the Leafs will want him. He fits into the same boat as Lupul, Laich, and Michalek. I would expect similar production from at least 2/3 of them and Lupul is the only one who has a chance a top 6 minutes this season.
