It's important to note the Leafs had better odds because they were in the North division. Their path was a bit "easier" in the eyes of Vegas.

Otherwise, they would have been much further down.

We all want a winner. But what’s the point in looking for all these signs of affirmation when it doesn’t happen on the ice?

I think you should take a break from playing offence around here about “leafs homers” given reality. Are you even watching or just running algorithms? The rage has never been more justified.

You said vegas odds would overrate the leafs because of leafs homer betting.

Then you said that leafs fans wouldnt bet on the leafs.

There is no place in math for intangibles, which we clearly lack. Heart isn’t a metric, showing up when it matter isn’t a theorem. This team has done sweet f*** all and we still have to endure this arrogance that can’t process you don’t get to go on the Athletic, run some numbers and watch it all unfold. And if you think it’s that simple, put your house up and hit VEGAS. Otherwise pipe down and realize something is wrong, numbers and reality there’s a disconnect.

Guess the good thing they aren’t just unlucky anymore

These are all things that are understood if you’ve played the game at any level. Whatever happened to that guy that use to argue momentum wasn’t real since it couldn’t be measured? Miss that guy.

I know stats are not that answer, I'm so stoooopid .... clearly misguided / uninformed hot takes are the right way to go but....:

  • Mitch's crappy shot as described on these forums is 11.3% for his career, Jacks 10.5%.
  • Mitch plays 1st unit PK, 106:52 last season, while Jack sits on the bench during his PK (56 seconds all season on PK)
  • Career: Mitch 347 take-aways, Jack 205 (Jack has played more games).
  • Career: Mitch 19:04 ATOI, Jack 20:19 ATOI

With all that said I agree with you, if you ignore facts and the truth ... Mitch sucks, Jack is god... great hot take there sport. Maybe take more than 10 seconds to fart out the next nugget of wisdom....

Hedman/Stamkos needed a 2nd wave of elite impact talent (kucherov, vasy, point) and a 3rd wave of impact elc talent (cirelli sergachev cernak) before they won anything.

Took Ovy/Backstrom even longer.
 
Selling Dubas/Shanahan becomes more difficult every year. Eventually you run out of material. In the Seven Stages of Grief, after "Bargaining" comes "Depression". So lets all be a little understanding.

And Vancouver and San Jose even longer right? Also it’s a dangerous analogy because these other teams actually won some rounds. We have no peer for shitting the bed and that is instructive, rather than comforting ourselves about other teams trajectories.
