All the pictures of him hanging out with Matthews leads me to believe he will be back.

Besides, why retire when you can play regular season for the Leafs.
Exactly what runs through my mind every time I see a picture of him and the kids. It would fit with management’s narrative that they like the team’s composition despite zero success.

The last time we were in the Atlantic before the COVID play in happened, we had 81 points in 70 games and Florida had 78 points in 69.

A lot of that had to do with Babcock and our putrid start under him. We had a .628 win percentage after Keefe took over, and while Boston and Tampa were still running away with the division, we were in 3rd by far.

From November 20th, 2019 - Stoppage:
Boston - .704
Tampa - .692
Toronto - .628
Florida - .531
Buffalo - .469
Montreal - .450
Ottawa - .430
Detroit - .229

We are comfortably in the playoffs if we started the year with Keefe and maintained his rate of play.

Big deal, teams regularly respond after a high profile changing of the guard, it offers zero long term analysis of Keefe's true impact. One fact, two years in a row he was out coached in the playoffs.

Under Keefe

#6 .660 pts%
#4 .592 row%

#7 Goals %
#4 Expected Goals %

#20 .903 sv%

I'm fine with them giving the core another shot. This is a good team. If we don't get through the first next year, i'm sure there will be changes - and I would certainly support moving a high end forward to get a high end D and/or a game-stealing goalie.

You got nothing is all I read. Go read some bastardized stat that doesn’t tell you Keefe was out coached again, it matters not, nor does it have any bearing on reality. At some point LOSING sort of over rides manufactured metrics. You just can’t get it. Cheers.

points
wins
goals
expected goals

these are "bastardized stats"?

Loser organizations make loser moves (like Simmonds re-signing). Jumbo coming back wouldn't surprise me in the slightest with Dubas in charge. Keefe playing him on the 1st PP again wouldn't surprise me either.

This team finally broke my spirit, I'm afraid.

comments like these just crack me up, how is Simmonds a loser signing. If you think Simmonds wasn’t going to get an NHL contract this coming season you are delusional

Who would they be favoured against in the first round? Florida? Maybe.

It looks much better when you blend the record from Nov to Stoppage

Under Babcock they were 9-10-4 for a .478

After the first 20 games with the new coach "bump" they were 15-4-1 for a .775

Once that wore off and they got "comfortable" with the new coach, the Final 27 games were 12-11-4 for a .519 (essentially one win better than the Babs record)

So I suppose it's another IF to be used

The original concern was the Leafs struggling to even making the playoffs. I am saying that is a major stretch, and the only reason it was even close last year was because of the putrid start under Babcock.
